Farewell to MARLIN
Cerberus owns Remington and now Marlin. That would include H&R, NEF, and L.C. Smith. This year they closed the Marlin factory in North Haven CT. The problem that Marlin had is that their products required fitting during assembly. That takes time, and time is money.
Cerberus did not buy Marlin for its inventory of 70 year old machinery. They wanted the name! When we see the new model Marlins in the future they will all be newly designed. They will not reqire any fitting during assembly. Some of us will yearn for the old pre-2010 guns.

Didn't they own Chrysler for a while this past decade? Hmmmm... THAT seemed to work out well!
And I bought a 935R a few years back, for my sons to learn how to shoot with when they get old enough. Guess I better stock up on mags and parts!

That Marlin 336 lever action 30-30 on my "I want" list just moved up several notches...

Re: Farewell to MARLIN
Part of the decision to move production from Conn to other plants in the US had to do with the cost of labor. Just like Winchester, Marlin's plant was expensive to produce guns at.
