Hatfield Township (Montco) Preemption Violation Challenge
I just returned from Hatfield Township's board meeting, during which I raised my concern about preemption violations evident in the local park system's rules & regulations. For the record, the text in question is as follows.
Signs posted at parks: "No fireworks, firearms, bows and arrows or golfing allowed."
Park regulations on Hatfield's website (as of today): "No fireworks, firearms or bows & arrows permitted."
After expressing my concerns and my request for review & correction, the president of the commission indicated that the board would look into it. I'll be back in two weeks to see what looking has been done, and I'll provide updates here as they come in.

1st follow-up: There's been no specific consideration yet, but according to the township manager this item is on the agenda for January's staff meeting. I'll post any results as they become available.

Re: Hatfield Township (Montco) Preemption Violation Challenge
Well, as of tonight, and according to the township supervisor:
- The problem has been recognized by the relevant personnel.
- An amendment to correct the offending ordinance is being drafted.
- The signs at the parks will be corrected.
So far so good, and I'm optimistic, but it's not finished until all of these things actually happen.
I'll post another update when it's warranted.
