AK Front Sight Problems
I have a SAR 1 that I got for the wife. It shot a bit to the left and I wanted to move the front sight post over. The problems begin.
I couldn't get the front sight post to move. Using a sight tool, it wouldn't budge. I nearly bent the tool trying to do it.
I get home and take a hammer to it. I pound on it and barely get it to move. But in the process I bust the front sight post. So, I have to buy a new one to replace that.
But before I do that. I want to get the front sight so it will move when I want it too and so I can get it sighted in. Any words of wisdom? The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

Just to eleborate on this. The piece that is stuck and won't move is the round piece in the front sight housing that the post twist down into.

Re: AK Front Sight Problems
Just found out that the front sight post comes in three diameters. Which one will I need to replace the front sight on the SAR 1? I seen .034, .052 and .072.

Re: AK Front Sight Problems
soak it with some CLP overnight and it should come out fairly easy tomorrow. The different sizes are just the post thickness I think the standard one is .052.

Re: AK Front Sight Problems
Alright. The tap/slap/smack/rap (whatever we decided to call it), to the tool while under tension was the ticket. I can now move the piece back and forth. And it is soaking in oil just for good measure.
Now to get a new front post.
Question. Thinking about putting a MOJO peep sight as a replacement for the rear sight. Since this is the wifes AK, thought it may be easier for her to use that type of sight quickly. If I do which size post would work the best for this set up. The thin, middle or the thicker one.The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....
