Default Number of LTCFs in PA

Found this on the Pennsylvania Sheriffs' Association website dated April 1, 2007: There are over 580,000 current licenses to carry that have been issued in the state of Pennsylvania.

I've heard that the number is close to every 1 in 20 people have a LTCF. I'd love to see it as 1 in 10 though.

Read the recoprocity info on page 3 of this pdf. Does it read as correct?

    http://www.pasheriffs.org/publication_files/96.pdf

    At this time, Pennsylvania
does not yet have a reciprocity
    agreement with these states.
    Therefore residents of these
states and any other state without
    a Pennsylvania reciprocity
    agreement MAY NOT carry a
    firearm while in Pennsylvania.

550K to 580K is about right. The PA St. Police releases a yearly report of the number of issues per county.

    Consider the source.

Anyone can open carry in PA without a permit (except in Philadelphia), and a valid license from any state is ALL that is needed to carry in a vehicle.

In Pa sheriffs departments are notoriously lacking in actual knowledge of the firearms law. The fact that Sheriffs departments dole out the Licenses To Carry Firearms makes them myopic. They think the law is what they say it is.

The right to carry a firearm does not emanate from the sheriffs departments but from both the US and Pa. Constitutions. The sheriffs department are charged by law with administering a program that must give every clean resident a license to carry CONCEALED. Some Pa Sheriffs are against concealed carry, and try to restrict that right any way they can.

Just remember an association of idiots, is still a bunch of idiots.

It's from earlier this year, so it's missing the recent reciprocity deal with WV.
