Wow, sorry to hear that MDT. I was there today at 3 and had the whole pistol side to myself until I ran out of ammo. I guess I'll never meet up with you morning folks.
Tons of brass all over, but the backstops were in good shape. I wonder if the wardens monitor these threads, because andrew.anderson posted that they were beat up yesterday, and they seemed fine today.

Had a nice chat with a guy on the rifle side, he had a fine-looking long gun with a custom stock, beautiful grain and finish.

Range time again met a nice fellow shooting a Springfield 45,not doing well with it and he asked my opinion.I shot his gun and was a good accurate gun watched him shoot for awhile and gave ideas how to improve his accuracy. He admitted to being a newbie but was open to info and told himof PAFOA.Three people two older ladys and a man admittedly saying the lady never shot before and was there to teach her.Hloads up her taurus 38 snub gives it to her and tells her to shoot all the while he starts shooting his Taurus 9mm.Lady did not even hit the backboard,no instruction from the male and i started to give her instruction 5 shots and did not even know she had to reload.I started packing up and turned around she put 5 9mm rounds into the 38spl ! I told her man to be more observant of watching her and he says shes a newbie ? all the more reason to give full attention to what is happening ! Got out of there but the first part of the range time was great !Shit happens but it was not going to happen to me ! JMO/MDT

Never been to the Tobyhanna Range. Do we need a state issued permit or anything to shoot there? Both rifle and pistol range? Thanks

Either a hunting license or permit will suffice. PA fish and game website sells online and you need a printer to get it. Try www.portal.state.pa.us > portal > server for the info

Got there today at 2:15, had the pistol side all to myself again till 3:00. Gorgeous day, range in decent shape - except for the left side of the 10 yard backstop. Someone stuck some stuff on the frame to shoot hanging objects and shot up the frame pretty good. That one backstop is fishnet now.

I stopped going out to that range about 6 months ago, Lots of good folks doing the right things but I ran into many idiots doing dangerous things and making messes and then leaving. When the good folks are out there its a pleasure when the idiots come out its dangerous.

The pistol range is dangerous. There are large rocks all along the bottom of the berms and the 45 we were shooting was ricocheting everywhere.
