Default Ace folding stock for an AK-74

Anybody have any experience with these? I am looking into picking up an AK-74 as ammo is currently cheaper than most other calibers (Russian surplus). I want to do a folding stock and I know that doing an underfolder will be a huge pain in the ass to have done to a none underfolder rifle.

I read an article by David Kokalis I believe it was where he modded an AK as a "tactical" tool. He put the Ace folding stock on there along with a rear peep sight that replaces the top cover. (I'm looking at that rear sight too along with an EOTech mounted on the gas tube)

I just wanted to see if anyone here has used the Ace stock with the internal receiver block. Is it worth the $165? If not, is there another folding stock that you would recommend?

    Something like the one here.

It's great, and there is a small wire heel that comes up from the end if you were to go prone to add stability.

I have the fixed version of that stock and have zero complaints and when I eventually move to "America" that is another item on the short list of "must haves"..

    Go here:

    http://www.classicarms.us/

Scroll down to just above the 5.45 ammo.

Romy S/F stock, direct swap, $48.00, tough as nails but brutally simple.

This is the S/F that Galils, FNCs, Para-FALs shouldv'e had... The proverbial "The west spent billions developing an ink pen the astronauts could use in zero gravity". The Soviets sent pencils with their cosmonauts.

They are very short. I couldn't stand the one that came with my Tantal.

The Para-FAL stocks are rock-solid and easy to fold/unfold.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I have ACE-type internal stock adapters on my Saiga-12 and WASR-10 with pig-nose adapters and M4 stocks. Will add folding adapters someday. It's an ugly solution, but works really well for me.

I would go with the internal receiver block so theres not big chunk of steel between the back of the gun and the folding mechanism. It just looks cleaner.

The stock looks a lot like the Para-FAL stock but the folding mechanism is different. The Ace one is a push button. The Para-FAL folding mechanism has to be pushed down to be folded. From what I've been told, it's a solid method and doesn't give anything up to a fixed stock.

    True that; "Warsaw length".
I don't understand why Century is selling a Romy WASRy-RPK with such a side-folder when a clubfoot just completes the look.

That ACE looks sweet on a "modern" interpretation like a Daewoo, Galil, VALMET; that all-EBR look is exactly home.

That would be the sight. I just found the left side cocking handle too. I'll have to take a look at that and see if it might be something to try. I do like the Krebs tactical safety lever with the thumb extension and the bolt hold open notch in the top. Of course that'll come later.

These are still far from a proven commodity... Not holding zero is only one of the issue I have heard... They have been out a couple years now and are still not right...
