Default Leaving a CCW in a locked car in a locked box

We all know there are places we can not carry our CCW's. My qustion is what happens when i have to go into a court house and leave my gun in the car (locked) in the glove box (locked) and some one brakes in to my car and steals the gun then later using the gun in a crime. Can i be held liable and if so for what?

Change the situation a little. You are visiting friends who are not comfortable with guns. While they respect your right to own and carry guns, they would prefer you not bring a gun into their home and you respect their preferences.

What is the best way to secure it in a car?

    To answer the OP's question.....no.

If they steal your car and use it in a crime........are you held liable?

A Pair of handcufs works well to secure the gun under your seat or in a lockbox.
Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.

The choice is yours, place your faith in the court system and 12 of your peers, or carried away by 6 friends.

I have friends like that, I have never agreed to not carry at their place. I conceal when I am there.

    I recently bought this.
    http://www.center-of-mass.com/

I got the medium sized one. 1 Medium $29.99 This one holds my Glock 23.

The large one is. 1 Large $37.99. will handle a full size 1911.

A cable secures it to a seat rail. While not full proof, it is a good unit and a poster on this site said he took one ,connected it to a tree and tried to yank it open but could not.

    I like it.

I know what you mean. I work in a VA hospital occasionally and have been told it would be wise to not carry there by guys on security.

Carry inside a VA hospital could be a felony (18 USC 930a).

Secure the handgun in a lockbox in the vehicle before entering the building.
