    Default SIGARMS 556...

Anyone have some insight on this weapon? How does it compare to the AR15? I like how this gun looks, but it would be nice to know how it shoots and how it compares to other rifles.

If your going to buy a sig , just buy the XCR. A much better weapon.

    not this again...

    My View:
Sig for some reason pissed off alot of people when they made the 556, i don't know if they wanted a diff. design or if its a crap gun or what(never looked into it in extreme detail because I don't like that style of AR, But I have shot one and it was very nice).. either way I wouldn't buy one because its not proven, and costs way to much IMO, and its one of those guns that seems to make people throw random objects at you for having it. I've read good reviews on it, but theres a # of people out there that live their lives just to bash the 556 so beware of them. The one I shot was nice, but again not my style

Many people were excited when Sig announced production of a 550 series in the US. Collectors etc. were hoping for an exact copy of the proven, and very very expensive pre 89 ban 550 series of rifles. Sig changed several items including the lower receiver, stocks, sights, and the grip initially (current grip looks like the original). I like the change to the AR mag however.

I would have bought a US copy of the 550 in a minute. $1500 is fraction of what a semi 550 goes for. The current 556 has no appeal to many. Though it is probably a great gun.

    Gas Piston System
    Extremely smooth even with Wolf
    BMW like
Stay away from additional add ons like forgrip light and cheap optic
Worthwhile to get with pop up backup battle sights

Plus I like the fact that someone has made a folding stock system for the 556 ++
