Default Interesting visit to a Gun Shop yesterday

So yesterday 3 friends and myself go to the range for an afternoon of AK, AR, and M9 fun. Then two of the girls decided they wanted handguns of their own for target shooting and to keep in the house. The catch was they only wanted " cute pink pistols."

We left the range secured the firearms at home then carpooled to the closest gun shop. (Shop will remain Unnamed) Upon arrival employee approaches us and immediately asks to see the two females IDs'. He claims to be checking because < 21 y.o are not permitted to handle handguns. I am assuming this is store policy. He then picks up a random handgun and starts talking about firearm safety with his finger inside the trigger guard and pointing the muzzle in all sorts of directions.

My buddy, ( off duty LEO) and my self look at each other in amazement! I then interrupt the gentlemen and tell him we werent interested in that model and he puts it back in the case.

We walk down the line looking at the smaller concealed carry pistols. Another employee approaches us and asked if we needed help. One of the girls asked to see a Kel-Tec P3AT and the gentlemen hands it to her. He then says, " the magazine comes out by pushing the button with your thumb. Excuse me, I mean the CLIP!" At this point my buddy said we should leave because these guys dont seem to know what they're talking about. I concur.

I said thank you and we will come again and see what you have in a month or so. I guess this wasnt good enough because the gentlemen then tried to show us this SCCY 9mm handgun, a nickel plated JENNINGS 380, and a Star 9mm.

Needless to say I dont think we will be going back to that gun shop anymore....

Sorry if this is a hard read... i needed to get it off my chest.

PS anyone know of any pink handguns?

For the benefit of others, I wish you would post this under "Where to or not to spend money" - and add the name.

    Thanks!

I think Walther makes a pink P22. I also think I've seen Taurus revolvers with pink grips. Seen all sorts of aftermarket pink grips, coatings and accessories.

I have one of them. It's got a pink receiver and a black slide. It's a fun little shooter, but definitely not for "home protection" (if that is what they meant with "keep in the house").

a 1650 fps .22 aint too shabby though, as long as the p22 can handle it.

Ruger makes a berry colored LCP. Not exactly pink but you get the idea.

Charter arms also has the pink lady revolver.

The P22 requires at least high velocity, which would be 1250 fps.

I recall that there was a problem with wear on the slide, where a piece of the trigger mechanism is pushed down by a little ramp inside the slide during the cycle. 1650 fps ammo may accelerate that wear.

That's not a bad idea. A different color for each outfit.

I need to have a gun in each color so I can always find a gun to go with each outfit I wear.

The S&W Model M&P9 JG comes with the small and medium backstraps in pink (as well as 3 in black). It's the Julie Golob model. Not a compact model.
