    Default Ammo Loading Blocks...

I am sure that many of you that reload for rifle have loading blocks with various size holes to accomidate the various sized rounds.

I have a bunch for "regular" sized rounds and a few 20G blocks for 50 BMG, but I finally made a block for reloading the 20mmx138B!

I work at a local high school and in my free time I head down to the shop and make stuff. Well I went through the scrap bin in the wood shop and after some glue and time I made the block below!

You reload 20mm? What do you shoot them out of?

Wow. How is the recoil on that monster? What press do you use for reloading the shells? How much does it cost to load a completed round for it? If you can't tell, I'm highly intrigued at this point!

I'm also interested in your reloading process, with a limited supply of rounds we very seldom shoot the two lahti's we have.

At $35 every time you pull the trigger it adds up fast.

if you would PM me any photos etc, I've been thinking of making up my own set of dies.

If God didn't intend us to have guns why would he have given us a trigger finger?

Recoil with the reloads is not that bad, it's like a long push but tolerable. Original WWII ammo is quite a bit hotter and slaps you more.

Since I had been reloading for the 50 BMG I already had the presses that would work with the 20mm. My main press is a Rib Mountain Arms nutcracker press that I bought back in the mid 1990s, heavy duty steel contruction but I don't know if they are around anymore. I do have a RCBS ammomaster press, which I bought first, but after I broke the cast aluminum base I decided to use it for bullett seating only.

Brass- back around five or so years ago there were two suppliers for 20x138b cases, Brashco brass and someother guy made stainless steel cases that were supposedly good for twenty plus reloads but I was never able to get any and both stopped making them around five or so years ago.

Powder- WC872C works about the best, and you can use 50 BMG primers. My last loading was 540 gr topped by a piece of folded toilet paper (unused) and a syrofoam peanut to hole the powder against the primer.

Projectile- Vulcan blue tips with the driving band turned down to .815/817 diameter. I have full reloading info avaliable for the asking.

Dies- CH4D makes about the best dies. They used to make them 1 1/2x12 thread, but not they only make them 2x12 so you would have to buy a press to handle that size or modify an existing press.

Let me know what else you want to know.

Mine came out of Wisconsin. It's a registered Destructive Device (DD) and you use the same paperwork like any other NFA firearm.
