    Default No carry signs

I just wanted to check on something. For the first time when I was in PA last night, I saw a "No concealed weapons" sign at a Shell gas station in Erie. If I rember correctly, the signs in PA carry no legal weight as you have to be verbally told and refuse to leave for an offense to occur. Is that right? I just carried in anyways and ignored the sign; that was one of those concealed means concealed moments.

You're correct.. signs bear no legal weight. however, if told verbally to leave(due to carrying) - you must comply. Trespassing is the law that goes into effect then.

I'm a proponent of open carry, but when signs are around - concealment is the best option to avoid any issues.

The most dangerous places are those where lawful guns are not allowed.

I'd stay away from that station for that reason alone.

Ever hear of a gun shop being held up? ;-)

Mind sharing where this Shell is in Erie? I normally use Sheetz or the occasional Country Fair for gas but I like to especially avoid businesses that post these signs.

Jurisdictions in which signs carry the weight of the law are rare, a good example being Texas.

As already suggested, shop elsewhere, if this is not possible, ignore the signs. If you are OCing, worst they can do is ask you to leave. If you are CCing, it should not be an issue.

Thanks for the input guys. This is the first time I've ever seen a no guns sign in PA, and never saw one at this shell station before. The only reason why I went inside is because I had already pumped the gas in my car, and couldn't exactly walk away then. The sign wasn't readable unless you are right at the door. This shell station is off I-90 east, exit 27 near the recently opened Presque Isle Casino in Erie, and a short distance away from hell on earth, refereed to as New York. Me and my sister went up and played the slots a little. I won't be going back to that shell gas station to say the least. But, it was one of those concealed means concealed moments since I already pumped, and was pretty sure the sign meant nothing itself.

I like that card, thanks PA Patriot. I plan to carry some of those in my wallet.

Good luck Weights. If you can find another place to shop I would, but understand that sometimes isn't possible (like already pumping gas). I am surprised they even let you pump without prepay, but I will have to keep my eyes open because we have a Shell here I sometimes get gas at.
