Limited to 10 items on your person in the event of Natural/Manmade disaster
If you had to choose only 10 items to have on your person/bugout bag at all times for a regional SHTF situation, what would they be and why?
To keep it interesting, your favorite rifle/pistol (with one mag loaded), spare mags, and any box of spare ammo count as 1 item each. I'm assuming you're already wearing the proper clothing and have a backpack to put stuff in.
Before anyone asks, a 12 pack of beer counts as one thing.
Now with that out of the way let's see some real answers.
1: Sig P220, with 1 full mag
2: 1 fifty round box of ammo
3: Multi-tool
4: Water filter/bottle
5: Bundle of paracord
6: Food MRE's (as many as I can fit into the backpack)
7: Ka-Bar knife
8: Flashlight
9: Blanket
10:Flint/steel"Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

Re: Limited to 10 items on your person in the event of Natural/Manmade disaster
Hmm, this one got me thinking...
Here's my list, in no order, but, think for a moment on my selections.
Leatherman tool
Swiss Army Knife
AM radio
At least 2 canteens (filled at first)
Marlin 30-30 (this is the one to think about)
One handgun in small caliber (.22 or .22 winmag)
First aid kit.
As much gold jewlery as possable
Freeze dried food for 3 days.
Sterno, Esbit, or magniesium fire starters.
An 11th item, a Boy Scout handbook. Great reference material in a small package. I would actually trade an item above for this!
12th item, a geologist's pick. Ever see the point on this tool? Just as useful as a hatchet, but not as threatening as a hatchet
Here's the explanation.
The 30-30, although a potent medium range firearm, doesn't have the visual impact of a recent military firearm. Not as threatening to a Sheeple, but can stop a man sized target at 150 meters. Not as likely to be "confiscated" by what authorities as fast as an AR or an AK. The small caliber handgun is very easy to hide, either on your person, or in a remote location. The small slow round will not tear up meat on small game animals as fast as a 9mm or .45 plus one can carry a LOT of .22 with out a weight penality.
The gold, well everyone seems to get greedy, and even though gold is not a monitary metal here anymore, one can trade a useless metal such as gold to hard goods such as ammo, medicines, and in a disaster one needs to be able to be as mobile as possable.
Several items I would not even consider, GPS, Cell phone, any painkillers harder than asprin, drinking alcohol (no beer, whiskey, or even cough suryup), anything even remotely looking like government issued weapons, credit cards (useless) laptops, or false Identification. (This one depends on the situation. a "Red Dawn" scenerio, my U.S. Air Force Retired card would be a death sentnece!)
Also, I would grab as many papers as possable, recipts for firearms, deed, titles to vehicles, DD214s birth certificates and belive it or not, death certs for my parents! With the large illegal population, proving you are who you say you are can be a life and death propisition.
Sadly, a vehicle would be nearly useless, as would a Quad, dirtbike, or even a generator. No fuel, no lubricants, no rubber for tires.
A steam traction engine could also be a lifesaver for a small community though. In addition to being able to till fields, a steam engine can be hooked to a generator, burns anything, and can be used to sterilize water. This space open for sponsorship

Re: Limited to 10 items on your person in the event of Natural/Manmade disaster
1-AR15 with every mag i can get my hands on that I can carry
2-Every 5.56NATO and .223Rem I can get my hands on that I can carry
3-My trusty M&P with every maga and weapon light attatched
4-Every 9mm I can get my hands on
5-Multi tool(like leatheman or Swissarmy knife)
6-Lighter(magnesium match would be nice)
7-High energy food ration(MRE perffered)
8-First Aid
9-Servival manual with detailed map of North America(Specially with snowmobile trail on it)
10-Compass
I think with these essential, everything else I need can be obtained along the way.
This is hypothatical equipment IF i'm on the move tho.
If I'm gonna be hold up somewhere, then eqipment would change dramatically.
If I'm gonna seek shelter for long term hold out, then I'll only take my AR, M&P, enough ammo to get me there, and old diesel truck(NO computer), and head down to nearest Walmart.
Barricade the 2 entrances(they have those steel rodded curtain thing. I've seen it when they were closed for Xmass or something), lock up the loading dock(steel door), and look for the hot chick I'm gonna get lucky with - thats if my better half don't make it tho.
My local mall only have 3 fast food restaurant and too many big glass doored entrances. hard to barricade, and not enough food nor generater power(like walmart with huge frozen food section) to hold up for long period of time.Audemus jura nostra defendere
