    Question PA Non-Resident permit

Ended up with one of those "use-it-or-lose-it" short-fuse vacations in a couple weeks, and have decided to visit your fair state, including Philadelphia.
Already have Ohio's CHL; looks like I need the PA Non-Resident also.

How long does it take to get one? Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated.

    Centre County

You'll have it in less than 2 weeks.

In case you do not get an LTCF in time, a couple of PA regs:
    1) You can carry in a vehicle with a permit/license from any state. [Otherwise you can't even transport a handgun unloaded in the trunk unless going directly to/from a range, gun shop, etc.]
    2) You can open carry (except in Philadelphia) throughout the state without a LTCF. Of course, in some places you can expect to be hassled.

I think you'll be surprised that few places are off limits, especially compared to Ohio. But note that many of the historical buildings (Independence Hall, its visitor center, Liberty Bell, Valley Forge) are no-carry zones (federal).

Really? I've never heard of that. Is it federal?

    No...state.

    18 ss 6106

Firearms not to be carried without a license
    (a) Offense defined.--
    (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.
    (2) A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a [FN1] valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and has not committed any other criminal violation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.
    (b) Exceptions.--The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply to:

    (11) Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle, which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the United States or any other state.

Which is why I don't understand why PA doesn't just honor all state permits in general...like IN et al

Cool. I've probably read that a billion times, but just skipped over it since didn't apply to me. Too bad it's not federal, thought it might apply to we PA LTCF holders while in any other state. Oh well.
