How do I get a suppressor?
I have been watching videos of suppressed .22s lately and now I want one of my own. The only time I ever see them is at gun shows. I know you have to pay a stamp tax or something but I'm not sure how the whole process goes. Also, which .22 do most people get suppressed? I usually see Walther P22's so that is probably what I'm going to get. Can I buy the suppressed gun at the gun show and leave with it? Does it look bad on you if you're getting a suppressed weapon?

Re: How do I get a suppressor?
It seems like it's harder to get than I thought. I guess that's a good thing. I just wanted to get one for plinking but I don't know how I would tell that to my local police chief.

I just don't want all the local LEOs knowing I have it and have to get my fingerprints on record like I'm a criminal or something.

"To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic." -- Ted Nugent

Re: How do I get a suppressor?
They don't give a crap. Now.
Will they in the future? Will they release your records to the public at some time in the future when things are different?
Yes.
If that happens, you'll be in good company. You can't kick over a bucket of range brass without finding brass blackened by suppressors. They are extremely popular, not something exceptional. It's alomst like saying you're afraid to buy a Glock because the PSP gets notification of your purchase and logs it. Just a step or two above that.
If the idea bothers you, set up an LLC or trust. Then the LEOs and Sheriffs don't know. For now.
