HB 40 Race to the finish line in the Senate
Passes Senate 45-4 Oct 14, 2010
To everyone that made phone calls, sent faxes and emails along with those that traveled to Harrisburg to be a apart of the A-Team at any of our rallies & interactive legislative lobbying events over the last 6 years
A big thank you
From Kim Stolfer ACSL / FOAC and WF
As a wrap up of what just happened in senate since the house passage of HB 40 with its 159-38 vote on Oct 5
The senate after much deliberation decided to amend castle doctrine to HB 1926 “Megan’s law”.
Which was not the best case scenario outcome we had hoped.
we got 2nd Choice Scenario: HB 1926 is amended on the floor of the Senate with SB 842 (Senate version of HB 40) and then sent back to the House for concurrence vote IF the House comes back for a sine die session in November (they are out till after the election).
Here is the schedule House days left in this session unless the leader of house call them back in for a special session
November 8, 9, 10, 15, and 16
We have a little more for everyone to do.
We have the hand we have been dealt to play so we now have to once again bug the house details soon to follow till then for a concurrence vote on the governor's desk for signature.
Please THANK ALL 45 senators that voted FOR passage of HB 1926 (which Castle Doctrine is now a part of) on its 3rd consideration Today Oct 14 with a 45-4 final vote
list soon to come soon of everyone to thank in senate

Re: HB 40 Race to the finish line in the Senate
MORE TO COME ON A -TEAM INTERACTIVE LOBBYING EVENT NEXT WEEK TILL THEN HERE IS BASIC OUTLINE JUST WAITING FOR DATE
We are tentatively going to be there about 9 a.m. time frame, on CLASSIFIED. The event will last to at least 3 p.m. and maybe as late as 6pm. If you have to leave before that or you can’t be there that early or arrive late we will try to accommodate you the best we can using cell phones to coordinate.
We will meet up just outside the security check point where you check your firearms. It’s the South entrance at the rear of the Capitol Building by the big water fountain off Commonwealth Ave.
If you come in the main entrance (with all the steps) on North 3rd street, you can NOT check firearms here. If you don’t have a firearm you can come in that way and make your way through the building to Commonwealth Ave entrance.
There are several nearby parking garages convenient to the capitol building beginning with the glass one off of N 2nd street off of Locust St. by the river. Another parking garage is off the intersection of Forster St &N 7th street by railroad tracks. There are also all kinds of parking meters & other places to park around the capital complex.
What we also ask is that you dress in business casual attire with comfortable dress shoes as we will be walking all over the capital complex. The point is to make what we say and information we present the focus of what the Reps will remember not how we dress or looked. It is important to dress appropriately for these events so that we leave a positive impression. I am personally uncomfortable with ties and dress shoes, we all should do what is required for the larger goal. Always dress to impress and you can't go wrong.
here is the Senate countdown clock with ONLY in session 3 Days remaining for passage in senate.... If HB 40 is not passed in the senate. its start over from the beginning in next session.
Monday Oct 11 is holiday (columbus day) and post offices & government building are shut down that day so no mail or phone calls will get through - Faxes still work
Tues Oct 12, 2010 senate in session - scheduled for a vote in Judiciary Committee contact senators now
Wed Oct 13, 2010 senate in session
Thur Oct 14, 2010 senate in session - Last day for passage
This effort is for an ALL out Activism effort with contacting the senators, and implementing a open to attend lobbying day at the capitial.
IF you want HB 40 passed into law do your part to support the cause by contacting all the senators.
Your letters can complex or as simple as you need to get your message across.
BTW the way this is not a firearms bill, it’s a self defense bill its doesn’t change anything about the legality or justification of what, when or why its legal to use defense in current existing law, just removes you having to be able to prove to the DA satisfaction that you couldn’t retreat first in complete safety anywhere you are attacked by the bad guys to be able to defend yourself or others
If you want to more than just sending Faxes, calling & emails.
You can become part of the A-Team (A =Activist) with lots of people that are wlling and able when we go to Harrisburg to help personally lobby the Senators for HB 40 passage. Send renegadephoenix or me PM to get max warning of the date and join the A-Team in action
Kim Stolfer (PAFOA name "Activist") will make the call which day the A-team is going into action based on when we are needed the most. You are all welcome to attend and work with US see post #1 in this thread for more info
Oct 8 UPDATE 3:51PM
Guys,
Just got the word - HB 40 just scheduled for Tuesday Oct 12 meeting of the Judiciary Committee off the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now the fun begins!!
Kim Stolfer
Wed 2nd consideration - keeping HB 40 a clean bill with NO amendments (debates won't hurt us only amendments)
Thursday (last day) getting a up or down vote IF kept a clean HB 40 it would be on the governor's desk the week after (before election day) which puts him in between a rock and political hard spot.
veto = sides with criminals instead of more legal protection for the Citizens
This effort is for an ALL out Activism effort with contacting the senators, planning and implementing a open to attend lobbying day at the capitial.
This is a work in progress and will be updated with new information as it becomes available
http://forum.pafoa.org/1359580-post-104.html
Link to Senator Orie letter please ask you senator to write a similar one
Senate is ONLY in session 3 days next week and that it for this session
Oct 12-Oct 14
Now most people in the senate doesn’t operate like the house Reps do with MOST senators not using their emails accounts like the house. If you think a house Rep blew you off, you in a for a surprise with the senate lots are less responsive to emails.
This is the big money players in the senate……To get RESULTS we have to switch tactics to get our message to the senators to take action. This means snail mail and faxes and since most computers can reconfigure emails to faxes (above my pay grade to explain how)
Besides some of the senators don’t use their emails and rather than just be ignored
Why should you send a snail mail letter or a fax?
Sending a snail mail letter or a fax creates a physical presence that an electronic email form doesn’t on a senator’s desk.
We all been known ignore emails, love it or hate when you go to your mail box and its full of mail you are forced to pay attention to the mail is some form and when it stacks up on a senators desk its tough to just blow off.
Also snail mail letter (fax) is much more effective to get you point across than just calling a staffer and hoping the staffer relays your message to the senator or any elected official.
it cost .44 cents to snail mail a letter x 49 senators = 21.56 its cheaper than that because some will respond to our emails….Still is your rights worth this much?
Your letters can complex or as simple as you need to get your message across.
BTW the way this is not a firearms bill, it’s a self defense bill its doesn’t change anything about the legality or justification of what, when or why its legal to use defense in current existing law, just removes you having to be able to prove to the DA satisfaction that you couldn’t retreat first in complete safety anywhere you are attacked by the bad guys to be able to defend yourself or others
If you want to more than just writting letters, calling sending Fax email & call.
You can become part of the A-Team (A =Activist) with lots of people that are wlling and able when we go to Harrisburg to help personally lobby the Senators for HB 40 passage. Send me a PM to get max warning of the date and join the A-Team

Re: HB 40 Race to the finish line in the Senate
In regards to faxes:
I've found that if I just want to send 1-2 faxes http://faxzero.com/ is an easy way. (to send 2 to the same number just add a 1(areacode) or (areacode)).
It can also be a free alternative to easily send out mass faxes of the same thing. (I.E a pre-made letter that just needs a name typed in.)(If someone with better writing skills then myself want's to do something up.)
If you have several emails / numbers that you are sending faxes to you can get quite a few out a day....
The best part also is that you don't have to register to use it.
There may also be other alternatives out there that I am un aware of.

Re: HB 40 Race to the finish line in the Senate
You have been doing this for quite some time, and I only just started recently. I can't make the cross state trips. But, I can work the emails, the phones, faxes, and just about anything else. I would tell you that I will help, so you can slack off. But, you can keep it up for a few more days.
Give me a list of who to call/email/fax, and I'll do my part.I'm so fast, I can bump fire a bolt action.
