Re: Gun Shops in York
The address is 2421 Ironville Pike, Columbia. If you're travelling east from York, take a left when you get off of the Prospect Rd. exit. You'll go maybe a half mile up a hill to a 4 way stop sign. Turn left there - that's Ironville Pike. He's a mile up the road on the left.

Re: Gun Shops in York
An example of Backwoods prices...
I saw the identical NIB Colt Series 80 1911 for sale in the Gander Mountain store in York and at Backwoods. The price at Backwoods was $100 lower.

Re: Gun Shops in York
Freedom Armory has a good selection, but their prices are outrageous and their staff often comes across as condescending. I'm reluctant to spend money there, but have done so for small items that I needed right then.
Stonybrook Shooting Supply on East Market street has better prices, nicer people, but not as great of a selection, though it is improving.
Surprised Lyman's on East Prospect hasn't been mentioned yet. They rank quite high on my list of places to shop...

+1 to Chris17404's recommendation of Artistic Edges.
They're basically a Browning dealer, and don't carry a lot of inventory, but I have used them several times to do transfers... really nice folks to deal with. When did ignorance become a point of view?

Re: Gun Shops in York
I live close to Shupps, definately a nice little shop
Stoney Brook I have yet to go into, they are never open when I get there, mostly on Sat.
Haven't been in Backwoods, but was there when it was under a different name and owner.
Trop and Kinseys are good places have bought from both places.
You also have Hakes in Wrightsville. They have some nice rifles, but there shelves for ammo always seem to be empty.
Looking forward to checking out Stubby's place

Re: Gun Shops in York
Hi Folks! My first post after reading in this forum for the last month. I'm new in York and this is a great place the find first hand info on the local stores.
I have a Remington 870 barrel with a fixed choke and I would like to install a Screw-In Choke Tube.
Can someone recommend one of the listed stores for this job?
By the way, where do I find John Shupp's Gunsmithing???
Thanks!
