Gun Checks Near PA/Jersey Bridges?
This was just a simple idea I had tonight.
What if some entrepreneur where to set up several locations, all near PA/Jersey bridges, where you could check your gun? Would you use a service like that? Do you see any problems with this idea? Do you think they could generate enough traffic to make it worth while? Maybe they could join it with a gun shop to help generate more traffic for sales.
Just to let everyone know, I'm not planning on doing this. It just seemed like a decent idea to me.

Re: Gun Checks Near PA/Jersey Bridges?
I sure as hell wouldnt leave my gun with a road side shack while I did business in NJ. If it was a long trusted and established business Id consider it but even then Id be a little skeptical.

Re: Gun Checks Near PA/Jersey Bridges?
This sounded familiar to me--I recall a discussion I read last year, when I first joined PAFOA:

Read through from post #18 on. Nothing ever came of it. I work in PRNJ, and would consider using a service like this if it was available and secure--not sure what that would take, though.

I wouldn't recommend such a business. Too many gray areas that could easily be resolved against you. You can't be involved in a bunch of gun transfers without an FFL, but as an FFL I doubt that you could hold and then return guns without doing PICS each time.
If you had an PA LTCF, then you arguably fall in the exception for "loans", but I don't think that could be extended to cover bailments for hire.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Still not endorsing the idea, but if you provided a locker and they provided the lock, or you gave them the only key, then you'd be more like a bank and less like a pawn shop.
I don't think it would be economically viable. You'd do better to sell lock boxes and a copy of the interstate transport provisions of the 1986 FOPA, if you had a Wawa or 7/11 near the border.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: Gun Checks Near PA/Jersey Bridges?
Myself, I wouldn't use it. I live close to the river but rarely venture into NJ, mostly because of their gun laws. On the occasions I do have to go I leave my weapon(s) home. I also don't like the idea of leaving such a thing with someone I don't know. Or who they hire to safeguard such items. I go over to NJ to say, compare whiskey prices. I leave my high end customized chunk of metal and some form of ID with my address with who? Yeah, I don't know either.

why not just lock it up in your vehicle, out of your immediate possession?
