    Default Basic Firearms Training

How can I find a beginner's pistol class for both my son and I? I'd like it to cover safety issues as well as basic marksmanship here in Northeast PA. I searched and haven't found any sort of list. There is one on the opposite end of the state on the 18th but I have a prior commitment. My daughter is expecting our first grand kid in that time frame. I can't be gone for a day or there will be hell to pay on the home front. I learned a long time ago to choose my battles wisely. If there isn't a place that runs this type of class on a regular basis is there a book or dvd I can buy so we can teach ourselves?

I've handled firearms in the army 35 years ago and we occasionally go to an indoor range in Willow Grove with my nephew but we both need to learn more. I've been going out to the state range in Sweet Valley to shoot on my own but not having formal training is a recipe for developing bad habits at best. Thanks for any info.

You can check the NRA site for your zip code. Looks like you need to search within 50 miles to find the nearest to you

The link above will help you find a course in your area. You can buy the book
http://materials.nrahq.org/go/produc...ductid=ES30600 if you like. It is the one used in the course. They have a minimum order so you might want to get a coffee mug or something else too.

If you shoot in Willow Grove, Classic Pistol is pretty close.

They have a couple dates for handgun classes on their web site -- see link.

    Welcome to PAFOA community!

We offer both NRA Basic courses and advanced courses. We also have Utah Concealed Firearsm Permit Instructors on staff. We may be a far drive for you but would gladly have you in one of our classes. We will gladly host an NRA class or Utah Concealed Carry class at a location in your area if you had enough people to commit.

    regards,

never shot a handgun in my life. Took the NRA basic pistol class at team life this Saturday and it was a great experience.

Small class size and 3 NRA instructors were there.
