DPMS 1'st target from the range
Well, this is my first target from the range after braking in my DPMS .308 Oracle. The two shots in the white are cold barrel shots then, I started pulling them in. This is my first 25 rounds. Quite a few cut holes. This is with British Radway Green 7.62X51 NATO at 50 yards, no scope just a red dot. As I said, it's my first 25 rounds after brake in, SO BE KIND! I damn near can't even see this target at 50 yards. I'm happy with it and the group will tighten after I get used to this rifle, let alone using better ammo. From a bench by the way.

Yep. Good ammo & some more trigger time should tighten up the group for you. There are a lot of distractions when you take a new gun to the range for the first time. How large is the blue area of that target?

Surplus ammo, no magnification, and a new to you rifle, that's fine shooting.
No worries. You'll close it up the more you shoot it.

Re: DPMS 1'st target from the range
Just looked up - Does that have a 16" barrel? Wow, I bet that throws a fireball, and makes some serious noise. Most 308 ammo is loaded for longer barrels, lots to be gained by handloading for the shorter barrel. Looks like it would be a nice rifle.
Hows the trigger? Long and creepy GI? Do the 308 AR's use the same triggers as 5.56 Ar's?
Where in Lawrence Co? I used to live on a farm in the boonies of Pulaski twp, moved to central PA 20 years ago.

Yep, 16" barrel. I really like the trigger, not a super long pull and pretty smooth considering it's factory with no tweaking. I can't compare t to a an AR. I've never shot one. It's my first tactical. I'm in New Castle City Trying to move out of here though. I'm looking for a house with some land at a reasonable price. I would like to build my own range when I find something.
