Default OC experience at Heritage Hills/Knickers Pub York, PA

So I was at Heritage Hills Golf resort this evening hitting some golf balls at the driving range, then decided to have a couple beers at the outdoor bar, OC'ing my S&W M&P 40c in a galco leather holster. While sitting at the bar a younger lady leaned over and asked the following:

her: Why are you carrying that gun?
me: for protection and its perfectly legal in PA to do so.
    her: but why?
me: Because I would much rather have it and not need it then be somewhere and need it and not have it.
her: but there isn't any criminals here that you would need that.
me: you never know what could happen and how do you know that there isn't?
    her: true.

That was the end of the conversation not that interested but I thought I would share. Just for some people that might be wondering I had 2 beers so I wasn't out bar hopping or anything just hanging with a couple friends.

    She sounds really bright.

When you blew into her left ear, did dust come out of her right ear?

I love the psychic powers of the general public that know all and see all until they end up raped or murdered in a dark alley on the good side of town.

You blew it. Since she was psychic you should have asked her what the winning Lottery Numbers are going to be.

Are you sure it wasn't just an opening gambit?

Perhaps it was not the gun she was interested in.

Nah, she was at the bar with a couple of guys, it wouldn't have matter anyway since I am married and all. But I should have told her that I am a killer or something just to see the look on her face.

Some people just refuse to comprehend that ANY TIME ANY WHERE means literally just that. And the whole, there are cops here all the time which I hear often... Remember the coffee shop the guy waltzed into and killed those cops? ANY TIME ANY WHERE.

When I get that answer "well, there aren't any criminals here" I respons with tell that to the injured victims and less fortunate grieving family members of safe places where "there are no criminals". Don't carry in church, ask the lady cop or retired cop at the church in I think it was Colorado where some psycho came in with some type of AK or similar weapon platform when she took him out. Ask the lady that lost her parents at Luby's in Texas many years ago. We could come up with pleny of safe places.

After that I get the blank stare while they try to formulate a logical response, to which they normally fail and resort to emotion and name calling.

Sounds like she probably didn't know you could carry a gun on you, probably doesn't own one herself, and hadn't ever thought much about it before. A lot of people aren't all that averse just simply unfamiliar. Probably more than we're aware of. Glad to hear she got a good first impression which definitely is a good example of the educational value of OC that people so frequently mention--she'd have never had the chance to learn if you were concealing it.
