Default This worth getting? (cabinet and dehumid.)

money is still very low for me and im looking for some storage. i have gun cases but the guns still rust a little, i tend to clean them once a month so they dont rust. So two questions, to save money can i just use the cases and through those little silica packs in with it? And 2nd would this combo work ----> stack on cabinet http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=337033

I have a 14 gun stack on and one of those Dehumidifier. Been using it for about a year. Works great keep every thing dry. About every six's weeks plug it in and dry it out

I used cases with silica packs for quite some time and that worked okay as long as you regularly cook your packs to dry them out.

Honestly, the best defense I've found against rust is a liberal coating of oil before putting them away. When I left for Afghanistan, all my guns stayed at my parents house in gun cases with a silica gel pack. I oiled the hell out of them and when I came back a year later I had no rust on any of them.

I use the Browning version of this. Works well enough I suppose.

One thing I have noticed about gun cabinets is they only hold a little over half of what the say they will unless you really stuff them in there.
