bucks county park system in violation of state preemtion laws
i was looking at park regulations regarding motor vechicles, and i saw that they had a section on firearms... here is a link to bucks county's park regulations in pdf format
looks like bucks county has it on the books that you can not carry a firearm on park property... i think we should all let bucks county know that they are in violation of pa state pre emption laws in regards to carrying on public property... i want to send an email... what statue does the preemtion for lawful carry on public property fall under so i can sound more official in my email?
now if we can find a park sign, i'm sure we can open carry by it and get a picture taken of us smiling near their illegal sign... i know for a fact that one used to exist in peace valley park in doylestown

Re: bucks county park system in violation of state preemtion laws
found it... here is my email... feel free to use my mentions
dear sir or maddam:
I was recently reading the Bucks county parks and recreation rules and regulations, and i noticed that in section 31 pertaining to firearms that the county is in violation of 18 PA.C.S. § 6120, which states "No county, municipality or township may in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the laws of this Commonwealth." .
could you please update your regulations sheet to reflect the UFA of 1994? adding to the list of those allowed to carry a firearm in the state park system "those issued a license to carry a firearm" would correct the matter and put you in compliance with Pennsylvania state law.my goal: to get every good person in the philly region responsibly armed.

How does adding "those issued a license to carry a firearm" put them in compliance?

Re: bucks county park system in violation of state preemtion laws
Basically once you get to "No (municipality) may in any manner regulate..." you're done.
They have nothing to say about the possession, transport etc. Nada.
They can regulate discharge of a firearm... but not much else.
Take a look up in the "sticky" threads at the top: "How To Challenge a Preemption Violation..." then go to it and follow up. Even if they get a whole pile of haphazard Emails, they will not take them seriously.
Unless you show by your actions that you're not kidding, and you're not going away.
Good luck!Last edited by PA Traveler; August 11th, 2010 at 10:12 PM.

It's at the top of "Law and Politics" under Pennsylvania.

Re: bucks county park system in violation of state preemtion laws
I dont have the link with me right now. But I have printed out a copy of the Buck's County Park rules from another location and the copy I have does say that licensed persons may carry in the park areas.
Edit: Here you go. Scroll down to the section that says "Hunting and Firearms"
Use extreme caution with firearms at all times. Other visitors use the park during hunting seasons. Firearms and archery equipment used for hunting may be uncased and ready for use only in authorized hunting areas during hunting seasons. In areas not open to hunting or during non-hunting seasons, firearms and archery equipment shall be kept in the owner's car, trailer or leased campsite. The only exception is that law enforcement officers and individuals with a valid Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms may carry said firearm concealed on their person while they are within the park.Last edited by ByblosHex; August 11th, 2010 at 10:29 PM.
