Default Just ordered my first ak, where can I get some good magazines?

I just ordered my first ak. I did A TON of research and finally decided to order: http://www.ioinc.us/home I got the wood IO Ak-47. They no longer assemble used surplus items like century, everything is manufactured brand spakin new in the US. Barrel is made by mossberg, etc. It was an article in guns and ammo complete AK47 book that finally sold me. There isnt a ton of information about these rifles to be found online, so once I get it I can do a review if you guys want....

Anway, where can I get some magazines? I hear Bulgarian steel are the best, the few places online I've seen of very good to new steel magazines are $30, im sure theres gotta be some better deals out there.

I wish magpull made the same quality magazines for the AK as they do for the AR, but apparently not. I love their AR mags.

    thanks for the help guys

Copes Distributing is where I got my Bulgy mags. Me thinks around $15 for the mags and $7.95 to ship just about anything. 30 round romy mags are still $10 the last time I checked (used, I think).

I ordered 500 rounds of Wolf for ~ $110 and 2 30 round bulgy mags and a 20 round mag a few weeks ago. All work 100%. Shipped quickly.

Don't worry about magpul mags or P mags or whatever.....30 round, metal. Buy a lot. Then buy lots and lots of ammo. Shoot. Repeat.

+1 on CDNN. They have a good selection of new and gently-used Bulgarian magazines available at reasonable prices. I have several Bulgy magazines for the MAK-90, and they work flawlessly.

I do realize the Asian military mags that CDNN has are cheaper, but for the prices on the ex-commie mags you might as well get what we all know works.

    Congrats on the new AK

Besides the places mentioned I've purchased and am very pleased with:

    Cope's Distributing

Bulgarian AK-47 steel 30 round new for $9.99
These magazines have been perfect. But if you feel the need to spend more money
Bulgarian 30 round waffle pattern mags $24.99

AIM Surplus Hungarian 20 round mags for $9.95
I wanted some shorter mags for shooting prone. These have been great.

Looking forward to your range report/review of the new rifle.

Aim surplus. Copes dist. J&G Surplus. Apex Gun Parts.

All places to check for prices. I have ordered from all of them and they all have good customer service, and reasonable shipping times.

Any METAL AK mags that are NOT of Korean origin are GTG.

    East European, Chinese, surplus etc.

Polymer is touchy and often debated. Bulgarian bullets mags WORK, but are not robust. The Bulgarian metal reinforced waffle mags are GTG, but expensive.

The Hungarian tanker 20rd mags are especially wonderful in finish and function. Especially unissued. I have some that are so nice that I smile just looking at them. Some in average condition that don't look so great, but work 100%.

Those are not serviceable. They seal the bottom.

They do say they use a ss cage inside the magazine though.

With the average experience with nearly any domestically produced magazine not fairing very well...
Compared to the sub $10 price tag on euro surp mags which are known to be 100%. I see no need to be a test mule.
