    Default Re-opening of a Range

Just recently found out my local american legion has a shooting range in the basement that is no longer in use. What would it take to get something like this up and running again?

Since it's their property, I'd first talk to the officers (?) about whether or not you have their permission to look into the liability and practicality issues related to reopening it. I suspect they have a very good reason for why they closed it.

I'm pretty sure the NRA (I assume you belong) has a range division. I think they will provide technical advice, legal advice etc.

But I agree that finding out why the range was closed (ventilation? lack of interest? lack of help?) is the first step.

Im going to guess that there may be code issues with ventilation and backstops that may keep it from re-opening.

Or, because lots of these places are nothing more than a glorified bar that does parades here and there.

No problem there, but its like the Moose.. its a bar, that donates to charity and occasionally cleans up the highway (or at least most of the ones I have gone to with friends and family)
