PAFOA Members try something new
Xringshooter set it up to introduce some new people to a variety of hangguns. I think it went over very well. We had to break out another table with all the weapons that showed up. Glocks, XD's, Kel-Tec, S&W....... 45's, 9mm, 308..... Well you get the idea.
Who would have thought that we could have this much fun and not fire a shot. But we did. In fact we not only had fun. We learned stuff. OOOOOO.
As one member who showed up said, "I've never touched an semiautomatic pistol before. Now I at least know how to handle one when I go in the shop to look at them".
Xringshooter took us into his house. Provided us with munchies, and drinks. Some of the guys brought other stuff to drink and eat. We all had a really good time. This was neat idea. It gave all us a chance to examine the variety of firearms up close and personal. We tore them apart and compared how they worked. We examined safeties on each pistol. We noted grips, sites, on and on and.....
Before we left, Ithinkimamedic took out out back and let us all shoot his silenced 9mm Glock. It was neat. None of us had shot a weapon with a silencer before and we were impressed.
Thanks to all that showed. Super nice meeting those that I hadn't met before. And this is a neat thing more of you should consider doing. I learned a lot about other firearms without worrying about shooting.
A good bunch of guys. Look forward to hitting the range with you all some time.
We had to break out a second table we had so many firearms. And some of
us still have firearms on us.
Our host (left) Xringshooter, sending us off with a fine farewell.
You want Gun Porn. We not only got to look. But we got to touch.

Westies!?!?!?, I beg to differ we're Centeries. We did have a good time. Lots of info was exchanged. Damn ithinkimamedic (Josh), now I have to save my money for the tax stamp and a suppressor, it's always something .
It actually turned out better than I thought, about 8 people with different thoughts about a number of gun related subjects. Good discussion on CC and what to do in certain not so good situations. Discussions about hunting arms. Discussions about military arms (both old and modern). Great for the younger guys that hadn't been exposed to a lot of different firearms. We spent about 3 1/2 hours talking (probably 95% of the time) about firearms.
Probably will look at doing this again if we see that the weather is not good or the range is closed.

First I would like to thank Xringshooter for providing the place and some eats and drinks. It was awesome to open up your home (and workshop) to us.
And also thank you for doing the transfer on the newest member to my family, my Kel Tec P3AT!
And thanks for everyone for bringing all the nice guns to handle and compare. I certainly learned a lot.
It was great and can't wait to do it again!

Re: PAFOA Members try something new
Fun was had by all and there was a lot of good discussion on a number of topics. Hope everyone enjoyed hearing/shooting their first suppressed weapon! It's a wicked bad addiction once you get bitten by the bug so watch out! I was glad to get to meet up with some new faces and see some old.
Bear we did this since the SGL @ Scotia were closed this weekend and only the aux range was open and that has been PACKED when the gated range is closed. To many people coming to sight in their hunting rifles!
On a side note I went out to do some low light and flashlight shooting this evening at the AUX range with a friend. When we got out to the range there was a group of people just blasting away and destroying everything they could, they also didn't clean up! Some of the most irresponsible firearms handling I've ever seen. I did also make note that they were PSU students and there's a good chance they were even football players judged by the way they were acting/parking passes hanging from their over sized thug-mobiles.
Cheers,
Josh

Yep it was fun. I'm so sold on silencer, I'm positive I'll get the paper work going soon. Silenced weapon with subsonic ammo rocks!
AS Ithinkimamedic stated, sometimes i've seen some less then desireble shooter over at the Scotia. they shoot just to shoot. THey don't really aim, or clean up afterwords. Those are guys usually show up with interesting target - Like old monochrome computer screen and stuff.
I usually just leave then those types show upLast edited by Mity2; October 21st, 2007 at 09:59 PM.
