Renewing ccw in Bucks County
I will be moving to lower Bucks within the next 6 months, and I have a question regarding ccw renewal. I checked out the application instructions on the Bucks county website, but was wondering how long the actual renewal process was? (i.e., the initial wait for interview once you arrive at the sheriff's office; the length of time from interview completion to approval, etc.)
Thanks in advance to all who respond, and I'm happy to be a part of pafoa.Last edited by greyhound; October 21st, 2007 at 11:45 AM.

Re: Renewing ccw in Bucks County
Just so you're aware, you don't have to renew your license when you move. Your old license, with your old address, is good until it expires. After it expires, go to the Lower Bucks County Government Service Center and ask them for an application for a LTCF. Fill out the application, submit your money, they'll take your picture, and they'll have your license in a few weeks.
There's no interview, and no need to travel all the way to the Sheriff's Office in Doylestown. They can handle it all at the local service center.

I don't know how long a renewal takes, but I was in and out in less than an hour when I applied for my permit. This was at lunch time on a Tuesday.

Re: Renewing ccw in Bucks County
Bucks County considered my application a new application, since I had never before applied for an LTC in that county. The process is the same for renewal vs. new application anyway.

To Sebastian and variablefeedback:
Thank you for your prompt replies, which were very helpful. Needless to say, the process was a little more "involved" in Philadelphia.
I'm glad to be a member of this forum and a (soon to be) resident of Bucks County!

Moving out of Philly? Yeah, you'll find the process much easier here. Philadelphia looks for ways to screw people out of their rights.

Life is so much better once your out of Philly. Been out 8-years. If your in Lower Bucks County you can go to the municipal building on New Falls Road when you need to apply.

Any closer than that and you'd be standing inside. It's right behind the Magistrates office. There's a very nice lady named Edna who usually handles that counter. Be nice to her and she'll make it easy, enough said?
