Default Looking for an apartment outside State College

This is a long shot, because I see this forum isn't terribly active. But, I'm looking for an apartment outside of State College, but preferably a minimum of 5-10 miles away. I'll be going to school there in the Fall (I know it's late to be looking), and I'd like to keep away from the high expensive and drunk college kids in closer to the main campus.

I've tried the major apartment search websites with no results. Most everything seems to either be right in State College and a bit pricey, many geared toward students that would want to share a residence with several roommates, or they are over 30 miles away. But, I know these websites aren't tracking all apartment complexes, as a couple apartment complexes that I've lived in and looked at in the past elsewhere aren't showing up either.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Bellefonte would be your best bet.

if you rent in bellefonte stay away from a guy named john snyder... can i say slumlord... best bet is to check out centre daily times or the daily progress.. they have alot of listings around here... whats your price range and such?? cuz its easier for us to look around for ya and give ya some options..

Check with any of the Realty businesses, most of these also manage rental units in the area. Check the Lemont, Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Port Matilda areas. Further out would be Potters Mills, Spring Mills, Millheim, Lewistown, Tyrone, etc.

I'm out of town this week, but when I get back I'll take a look and ask around to see what might be available.

I take it you're looking for a nice 1 bedroom?

If you need to commute (drive) to campus, check out the parking first. I worked on Campus last month and paid $35 to park there for the two weeks I was there. It was still cheaped than feeding the meters. Take that into account if the place cost a little more, but includes parking/ close to campus.

Don't rent from Dale Trout, Rodney Hendricks or Sun Corp at all. I've never heard a good thing about ANY of them and have personally been in properties owned by all of them and have been thoroughly disgusted by the condition of the places.

As others have mentioned Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap are both close enough and decent areas.

i work on campus on a daily basis and can attest to how expensive the parking is.... you may want to look for one thats within reasonable distance to a bus stop too... but again depends on what your looking for price and amenity wise..

That's something I hadn't even thought about. Does PSU not offer parking for students?

I'll have to look up a number and give them a call. I used to go to a PSU branch campus. They issued parking permits, but there was really plenty of parking. I forgot all about that issue.

    Thanks
