Gun show T shirt removed from 1st grader

A Co-worker of mine said he picked up a shirt for his kid and let him wear it to school. It was a stick figure person making muscles and had "welcome to the gun show" written on the front.

When he picked up his kid the boy had an old T shirt on that was obviously not his, old/used, and waaay too big for him. When he asked him where his new shirt was he started crying and said "they took it".

Apparently the T shirt threw up a red flag because it had the word "gun" on it so they made the kid take it off.

Un-freakin-believable.

yea its amazing what they do now a days. I guess they dont want kids thinking that guns are cool, without explaining to them that there is such thing as responsible gun ownership! What about those t-shirts back in the days with GI Joe and him holding a machine gun? I never got those taken away.

OH yeah! It is written in my kids school handbook...any clothing related to guns or viewed as threatening to other students will be taken! My kids always wear camo to school...I'm just waiting for that to be banned also!!

I used to wear all kinds of para military stuff to school..."Kill em all, let god sort them out," AK t-shirts, etc...teachers would have a heart attack if a kid rolled in with one of those shirts! LOL

My wife is a kindergarten teacher. I will have to ask her what she thinks of it.

But I do know that it is up to the teacher and principal to make these decisions. I forget the shirt she made one of her boys take off. Damn, I will have to ask her.
