    Default Video Taping Police

I did a quick search, but didn't find that this had been posted. I thought it was interesting, especially considering it comes from AOL.

New article...Thought a discussion of the article might be interesting rather than derailing the other thread...

Sorry, I read your post in a hurry and thought you were looking for further info. My fault.

That article does bring up one legitimate point, that I'd never considered before:

That an officer is going naturally to be very uncomfortable with someone they're detaining holding something in their hands and pointed in their direction.

Just do like I do. Use the voice recorder built into your cell phone. Not all have them, but the last two phones I had did. Whenever a LEO approaches I just turn it on and put it in my pocket. Since Im merely interested recording the coversation, video taping isnt really important. And it since he cant see it it prevents the situation from becoming confrontational.

That could lead to intercepting "oral communications", which could be illegal. I believe it's 5703.

Not if the public servant is executing the stop as part of his job. Also He has no expectation of Privacy in a public place... on the side of a road, in the middle of a mall (etc)

Interesting in Part 1 all the chatter about the driver being ID'ed by the dispatcher as possessing a Concealed Carry Permit.
