    Default LTCF Form

Just wondering when you guys apply or renew your LTCF under 'Reason' for carrying do you check 'self-defense' or check 'Other' and clarify 'All Lawful Purposes'.

It doesn't matter because the reasons mean nothing when it comes to carrying but I chose self-defense or whatever it says on the form.
I am not a lawyer and nothing I say should be construed as legal advice.

In a shall issue state, there shouldn't even need to be a reason...

that said, I checked self defense

I recommend checking "self defense" to, as anonymouse said, avoid some fool LEO who does not know the law.

alternately, you could check the "other" box and write "zombies" next to it.

I wouldn't recommend that, although funny. Just like I wouldn't use "to fight the voices in my head" LOL

    Fight the voices

I thought I was supposed to obey them!

Number of years ago when I lived in Montco and went to renew, the deputy decided to coach me when I was filling out the form, told me to check 'Self Defense' because no other reason was a valid reason to carry. I imagine he was wrong however I've always considered Self Defense as kind of being irrefutable so that's what I always put down.

Yeah, the application for a LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARMS has checkboxes for SELF DEFENSE, EMPLOYMENT, HUNTING & FISHING, TARGET SHOOTING, GUN COLLECTING, and OTHER. But self defense is the only valid reason.

When I applied, I had checked a couple of other boxes since I really hadn't though of carrying at that time. The deputy at the desk slid it back across the counter and said should check "self defense," which is what my LTCF says. I suspect an LEO who didn't know, or more likely one in a reciprocal state, might have a problem with your carrying if the reason shown on the LTCF is something else.

It was, of course, a joke (as you know, thanks for the rep)

gun is not a proper voice-fighting tool, though, as it would also damage the user irreparably.

I was wondering the same thing earlier this month when I finally got around to getting my LTCF, I checked all the boxes and the Sherrif's office just put Personal Defense on my license. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I for a short time considered writing "I like guns" in the reason for carrying.
