Re: Is this a good AR upper?
What are you gonna use it for? Regardless of purpose though, I would point you towards Bravo Company's sales on uppers as well.
The BCM's are only missing a set of handguards and a rear sight. The handguards can be found for $20 and the rear sight around $50. For me (read ME), the BCM at a marginally higher price is lightyears better. For you it may not be, but It is worth a look. Again though, knowing the role it has to fill helps.Jeff Cooper was a huge supporter of gun games, when he was winning them at least...

Re: Is this a good AR upper?
Yeah, RRA isn't bad, but for a comparable price I'd still go BCM personally. They waited to release everything they made with a barrel because the barrel extensions did not meet the Rockwell hardness specs and rather than just slapping them on they waited till they got the proper extensions, even with the economy the way it is. That to me says a lot about a company, all of it good.
If you are interested in a tactical latch I'd recommend checking out the one they have VLTOR make for them. It takes the stress off the latch's pivot pin and transferring it to the rear of the latch basically eliminating breakage. A little pricey? Yes, but worth it for increased reliability (OK ok, and it looks pretty cool too )Warning: I may not read responses to OP before posting

Or you could just pick up a BCMGunfighter charging handle while you are buying the BCM upper.
Are you seeing a pattern here yet? BCM for the win.

Re: Is this a good AR upper?
Love the BCM upper I just got. The prices aren't bad at all on BCM parts and according to some gun nerd charts they make their AR-15s to the same specifications as Colt.
Though I am waiting on a RRA AR-15 in the meantime.

Re: Is this a good AR upper?
Regarding BCM I had several phone/e mail transfers w/ a Rep for a leading weapons manufacture who kind of let me know (because of the unique sit I was in ) that they were the machinists for many, including BCM. If you read thru all the advertising and compare everything it is very apparent.
