Re: Man pleads guilty to illegal gun purchase scheme
Can't argue with that. Yet I still have a feeling that someone involved in a straw buying ring supplying guns to people in NY is A) not checking to see if they might be either someone with a warrant out for them or someone on parole, or under a PFA order and B) wouldn't care if they were.

Re: Man pleads guilty to illegal gun purchase scheme
There are a lot of clues that tip you off.
Their conduct, demeanor, the way they start the inquiry, the number of persons involved, what they say, the type/price firearm....there are a lot of verbal and non-verbal clues.
Our policy is not to complete a sale if we are not comfortable with the purchaser.
The key is to identify the problem before you even start the paperwork.
The ATF has the same stance and advises you that you can have your own policies and if something doesn't seem right...even if it is gut feeling...you don't have to make the sale.
If you realize it during or after the paperwork and insta-check...you still have the duty and right to cancel the sale.
We have customers from all demographics....a wide variety of really good people of all races and ethnicities.........people I would share the same glass with.
It's about being vigilant and doing your job. It's about doing the community right and not making every sale because you want or need the money.
It also about getting your employees dialed in to do the same and understanding the importance.Last edited by AdvancedArms; July 9th, 2010 at 06:06 PM.

Re: Man pleads guilty to illegal gun purchase scheme
Rep!
My local fun store owner has told me he has had to kick a few people out, mainly for suspicious behavior. One time he had to kick a woman out who was obviously doing a straw purchase--she forgot what the guy in the car wanted, so she went out and asked. Red flag, much?
