Default Got into a near argument today about OC/CC

Was at favorite eatery and the main owner wasn't there, just her husband. I was OCing. When I went to pay, he starts this whole " why do you carry?", "can you shoot/kill someone?". He has done this with me once before. He's not anti gun and not anti carry. He starts into this whole thing about "what if some robber came in here right now and stuck a gun in my face?" I explained to him how each situation is different, and how he should just give the guy money. If he won't leave and starts shooting people THEN is when I can react. He says something about if he had a gun he would shoot the robber in the back as he leaves. I told him this was a no-no if he is merely leaving. I told him about PA's laws- duty to retreat IF you can, and that you do not shoot a bad guy in the back if he is leaving and not an immediate threat to anyone at that point. He asks me " what if there was someone in the walmart?", to which I ask " you mean an active shooter shooting random people?". I replied that if I could get the advantage or if I was unable to retreat safely, I'd do something. I even said that this would be one of the few times where shooting the guy in the back to stop him would be "permissable" since he is an immediate threat to everyone. I also mentioned reactive and instinctive abilities, as well as situational awareness, and how I developed a good set of it when I lived in Baltimore, and it is still with me all these years later. ( I hope I got all this legal stuff right)

After all this, he then says " you still didn't answer my question- why do you carry?" Then he starts a bunch of crap about him grabbing my gun, or a robber robbing me of my gun due to open carrying.

Is this guy beyond debating with? I think had his wife been there, he would never have started this in the first place. She would have been all over his ass, probably saying things like " I wish all my customers carried!".

I do respect this guy, he normally doesn't nitpick like this. He is also a Vietnam vet. Why does he think I couldn't shoot a bad guy intending to harm?
    LOL, I am a woman...

It sounds like it. Seems his thoughts are on a different path.

    Haha!

As funny as it is, you probably shouldn't say this.

Sounds like he's got a case of "women shouldn't carry guns." He figures you'd probably just lose your little mind and go all to pieces in a bad situation.

Depends on the person. I tried that response when a neighbor was complaining about me carrying while doing yard work a couple weeks ago. It didn't shut him up.
