Recommendations optic for rimfire rifle on a budget?
Looking for a budget rifle scope that will be good for 10-200 yd. It will be for a rifle chambered in .17hmr.
Would like target style/finger adjustable turrets.
Must be atleast 40mm.
Side parallax a plus.
Illuminated reticle a plus.
I would like to stay under $100. Any recommendations?
I looked at Barska and BSA scopes with the BDC. Not sure if that is the best route to go.
Wil be primarily for target shooting and potentially small game hunting

That is a lot to ask out of a $100 scope. Go to the local fun store and look through scopes until you find one with acceptable clarity and brightness would be my suggestion.

I got a nice 8x scope from the show in Harrisburg at the farm show complex last year. Its a Leupold and I think I paid $45 for it. It works great on my .22 for groundhogs on my farm. So I would say try the outdoors shows when they come around to you or if you can wait til next Feb and head to HBG.
Just my 2 cents

I have the $69 WalMart Centerpoint 4-16x40 illuminated scope on an 8mm Mauser and it has held up fine. It should work more the adequately on a 17
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

You can try the vortex crossfire above from SWFA. They have been flying off the shelves from what I've read, but SWFA is saying a July/Aug delivery if you buy now. It's a 6-24, which may be a bit high mag for what you need (especially if you want to hunt with it at close distances).

Go to eBay, and try to locate a vintage made in Japan Tasco or Bushnell scope - or perhaps a vintage Weaver or Redfield.
I managed to pick up an MIJ Bushnell 3 x 9 for under fifty bucks that way. Optics quality and durability are far better than your average PROC cheap POS scope. These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for. LMAO

Any Leupold for that price is a steal, you done good!
We used to turn our nose up at anything made in Japan but they did make some decent optics. eBay is actually a pretty good place to look for a fair scope at a reasonable price if you're willing to gamble a little bit.
I've made a few good buys on optics there and never been screwed, your results may vary.
If you want a 200 yard scope for $100.00 or less you don't have much of a choice other than buying used.

+1 on the CenterPoint. I have a 3x9 on my 39A, and it works very well. Not as bright as my Nikons or old Simmons scopes, but the optics are clear, holds zero, and range adjustments are repeatable. I plan on getting the 4x12 for my Marlin 60.
My Best, Walt

New Redfield is made by Leupold, so you have an option with a good guarantee there.
