"To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic." -- Ted Nugent

"The fact is, criminals don’t pay attention to gun laws, only we good folks do. After 15 years of criminal law practice, I can state positively that when criminals
resolve to harm someone, no law will stop them. These so-called “public safety” laws only put decent law-abiding citizens at a dangerous disadvantage when it comes to their personal safety, and I for one am glad that this decades-long era of defective thinking on gun issues is over. " - Gerald R. Fox
Nothing could be further from the truth. One could only hope that this would spur more lawmaker support for Second Amendment Rights. Now if we could only get our PA lawmakers to get HB 40 passed...

Wow, there might be hope for the poor slobs that live in WI.
When I spent several miserable years living in WI, I was in Monroe County which is the adjacent county to Jackson. People in that area are very pro-gun... but the whole state is swayed by the losers in Madison and Milwaukee.
Kinda like here, but so far we're keeping our heads slightly above water.
That bit about uncased weapon in a vehicle is a BIG money make for the Wisconsin DER. There are some pissed off tree huggers in WI right now!
In WI, you can't just reach into the back of your extended cab, unzip the soft case and slide your rifle or shotgun out of the case. Doesn't matter if it's unloaded of not. It also applies to the tailgate of a truck. On opening day of hunting season rangers sit in the brush watching parking lots with binoculars for someone touching the zipper on their rifle cases if the poor slob has been fool enough to do so while the rifle case is on the tailgate of a pickup. They swarm in with SWAT like action and arrest.
To be legal in WI, you have to hold your rifle case outside and off of the vehicle while you unzip it, NO TAILGATE ALLOWED. Then, you have to hold the rifle well clear of the vehicle while you put the empty case back inside your car or truck. Not always very easy with cold weather gear.
Socialist bastards...
My experience with Wisconsin DER is they are tree-hugger hunter haters. The local bastard threatened to prosecute my 12yo son because his PA Hunter Safety card didn't have a unique ID number like the WI card does even though by statute WI recognizes the PA Hunter Safety Card.Last edited by twoeggsup; July 16th, 2010 at 07:23 PM.

While this is good news, keep in mind that this particular country the DA oversees is just one small county in the entire state, and he currently has *zero* pending cases of that nature on his desk now.
Plus just because he won't prosecute doesn't mean the police won't arrest you for a law still on the books.
Nothing is actually changing except overall attitude.
