Massad Ayoob classes in Harrisurg (September)
Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers will be hosting classes with Massad Ayoob on 9--12 September (MAG-40, entry level class) and 13--17 September (MAG-80, intermediate level class). The point of contact for these classes is Chuck Grubb (chuck5054@aol.com).
Ayoob, long of Lethal Force Institute (LFI), has started his own Massad Ayoob Group (MAG), which still provides the average citizen with excellent training in the judicious use of deadly force. For those familiar with LFI, the MAG-40 course is comparable to LFI-1 and the MAG-80 course is the counterpart to LFI-2.
MAG 40 is a combination of the following two components:
MAG-20/Classroom – Armed Citizens’ Rules of Engagement:
A two-day, 20-hour immersion course in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered. Prerequisite: none.
MAG-20/Live Fire:
A two day, 20 hour immersion course in the use of the defensive handgun under extreme stress. Draw from concealment, two-handed stances, shooting from cover, one-handed stances with either hand, speed reloading, and more are taught with an overall emphasis on fast, accurate shot placement. The course will culminate with a police-style qualification course. Estimated ammo count: 500 rounds. Prerequisite: basic understanding of firearms safety.
Further information is available on the MAG website
For anyone who has previously taken LFI classes, the MAG-80 course is open to those who have completed LFI-1.
Registration is open until 6 August. Please contact Chuck Grubb (chuck5054@aol.com) for registration and payment details.
(By the way, I am not Chuck. I am just an LFI-1 grad who helped get these Harrisburg courses on the schedule and would like to see as many people as possible get the opportunity to sign up.)
