pocket gun
I just want to thank you guys for all the helpful information you have given me so far. But I did want to ask something else. In your opinion, what is the best self-defense pocket gun, for when you have to wear shirt and tie, or for the real hot weather?

Re: pocket gun
.38 snubby...one of the light weight (aluminum framed) ones. With a tie, you can wear pleated trousers which really help in concealing the gun.
Hot weather...same gun.
My choice was the Taurus 85 Multi-Alloy (also called Ultra-light) which has that aluminum frame, titanium cylinder/barrel shroud. I've carried this gun regularly for 6 or 7 years now. Mine has a hammer, but I suggest you look for a concealed hammer type or the DA/SA model 851 (Taurus).
For a holster, I'd suggest a Mikas. These are quite nice for a very reasonable price.

Re: pocket gun
If I must pocket carry, I carry a S&W 340PD, in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster, loaded with Corbon DPX .38 Special +P. Perfectly reliable, light, and the holster is cheap.
I've had bad experiences with all small autos except the Colt Mustang, which is an all around awesome little gun. They're pricey, though. I just sold my CM Pocketlite, used but perfect mechanical shape, for $600 or so.
That said I, personally, can't stand pocket carry for a primary gun. It's a definite last choice for me, as is carrying a scandium j-frame as my only gun.
I'll wear an ankle holster, or even a Glock 26 in a shoulder holster under a buttoned up dress shirt before I'll pocket carry if I can avoid it.The material presented herein is for informational purposes only, is not guaranteed to be correct, complete, or up to date, does not constitute legal advice and does not establish an attorney-client relationship. “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
