Default Is it legal to CC or OC in a liquor store or bar?

Hi, I'm new to carrying period, so I may expose my ignorance here, but my wife & I went in to the Adams County Sheriffs Office today for our LTCF and they gave us a paper saying:

"DO NOT" carry a gun into any place that sells alcohol.

Is this the law or a requirement? I was of the understanding that it is legal to both OC or CC into a bar or Liquor store... even tho OC may not be advisable, it was still legal. Or am I wrong here?

Do I need to stow my carry piece in my truck just to go grab a case of MGD?

    - Nate

Check this link out, a lot of good information in there. And yes you can carry into an establishment that serves alcohol. There is nothing in the statutes about it. From what I understand some Sheriffs make up the rules as they go.

Uh, yea, I read that, but it's 3 years old, and my question relates to a notice handed directly to me (TODAY) by the Adams County Sheriffs Dept.

They are full of crap. It is legal, CC or OC. It is neither a law nor a "requirement," whatever that is. They can't "require" anything above the UFA, which is Commonwealth law.

Although the original post may be 3 years old, the information contained within is still valid.
    .
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Good to know, as an (attempting) law abiding citizen, I'm just trying to make sure I get my information straight before going somewhere and putting my ltcf in danger.

Is it not a fair assumption that the Sheriffs Dept generally knows the law better than the average civi? Even if they don't, they're the one with the handcuffs & badge... Sure they can be wrong, that's why I wanted to ask

Adams County PA "Yes" Adams County Ohio "No"

The sheriff's wrong or your navigation systems screwed up.
