AR/223 shooters read Bad batch of federal ammo

I stopped at the officers store in chalk hill to transfer a pistol on friday and saw a couple chilling sights. 2 PSP officers had their AR rifles blow up in their face due to federal ammo. One of the rifles was a colt, it shattered the bolt cracked the barrel and widened the upper a little. The other to blow up was a bushmaster, again it shattered the bolt cracked the barrel and split the upper almost in half, blowing the upper right off the lower. The gentleman that was shooting the bushmaster was rushed to the hospital for injuries while the man with the colt just had some scratches they told me. It happened within the same day and federal ammo was the guilty culprit. I was told that the PSP contacted federal with the batch # of ammo and federal admitted to double charging the ammo. Thats about all the information I was told. So if you're shooting federal ammo, I would contact them to find out what the bad batch numbers were before something like this happens to you. Just thought Id give you guys a heads up.

PLEASE call them and get some more details on the ammo. Was it Federal Tactical (Lake City) or commercial? If it was the former, was it XM193 or XM855? My bet is XM855.

I hope Its not WallyWorld ammo. I've got a few hundred rounds of it. I have noticed that the problems are usually that XM193 ammo.

I just bought a case of Federal's "American Eagle" XM193 that I haven't cracked open yet. So I'd be curious to hear any additional information.

I just picked up some 100 round value packs of Federal .223! I emailed Federal... hopefully I'm ok with this stuff, now i can't shoot it until i know its ok.
