Stainless or Blued
About a month ago I brought home a Kimber custom TLE II. This is the blued version. Two nights ago I was in the shop and they have a stainless version. Used unfired, $849.00. I have decided that I must have this one. I have called and they are holding it for me"I buy several guns there a year".
Now I have more or less decided to also keep the blued version.
What would you do?
Both version have good points.

Re: Stainless or Blued
I'd go for the stainless Kimber. I have heard too many horror stories about the blued ones finish wearing off and rusting.

Re: Stainless or Blued
Stainless is nice for carry guns and other weapons that are used hard. I don't buy blue for any but range guns these days.

Re: Stainless or Blued
I go with stainless for the ease of maintenance, but I would rather have a stainless gun with a Nitron, or melontie or Silicon-Nitride-Titanium finish.

Re: Stainless or Blued
Well I just returned home from having some lunch and stopping at the gun shop. I put some money down on the stainless version. I have also decided to keep the blued version.
I also talked the wife into buying me an iceshake on the way home.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: Stainless or Blued
Another plus with stainless according to the gun rag's, stainless get's a little more attention when being assembled because you can't hide little imperfection's with a coating. Make's sense to me. But I would do the same & keep both also. I'm also a Big Kimber Fan...NEVER A PROBLEM...NOT EVEN ONE!!!

Re: Stainless or Blued
Is it really blued or something else? I have had the Tactical Pro II for awhile and have no complaints about the finish quality on the slide. I personally don't have a preference of one over the other cosmetically. From a CC standpoint darker the better for me as it gets fewer looks. Another option would be to have the blued one custom coated with Roguard or some such.

Re: Stainless or Blued
stainless, easier to spot where need to be cleaned. less likely to rust. but easier to be spot due to shining surface.
blue, easier to have scratch, harder to spot where need to be cleaned, but more concealable.
above are what i've heard from different forums overtime. i always purchase stainless guns, just for easier to clean and less likely to rust sake.Mossberg835, SA XD9Service, TaurusPT745SS, WaltherP22, SA XD9SC SS
