SBR Question?
A question on SBR?
A gentlemen has offered me an AR with what he says is a 14.5" barrel with a 1/9 twist. I assume this makes this rifle a SBR is that correct?

Re: SBR Question?
It depends...if the barrel has a FH and it is 1.5" and is not the screw on FH...it will be legal and not considered SBR.
I am going to go out on a limb and say the guy will tell you he has a 1.5" FH or longer on the upper. IF someone owns an NFA item, I hope they are not going to be stupid enough to just trade it without going through the proper channels.

Re: SBR Question?
It does have a FH - I will have to ask him the length of it and how its attached. Thanks for the quick responses. I'm not looking to get into a SBR type AR.

Re: SBR Question?
There are a few companies who are building 14.5 uppers with perm Flash hiders attached now, seems to be a newish trend from the manufactures. If he's no 100% sure post what brand upper and what type of FH it is and we ought to be able to help.

Re: SBR Question?
So you are saying a 14.5 inch barrel is not an SBR? Wrong. you make reference to a welded flash hider as part of the barrel. You need to read the question before you give advice. The question says nothing about a welded flash hider on the end of a 14.5" barrel, it just asked about a 14.5" BARREL, so YES a 14.5" barrel is an SBR.

Re: SBR Question?
Actually NR, the post said nothing about any flash hider of any type nor it's method of retention. So that would make the answer to his question a definite . . . maybe.
