    Default Star Firearms?

So my girlfriend came home yesterday and asked if I ever heard of a gun called a "star something". I asked if she was sure she didn't mean Kahr and she was positive. She said it's definitely "star something, with a star on the side, heavy and a .45."

One of her clients knows she likes to go shooting with me and always talks guns with her. That day he was carrying a Star and let her handle it.

I've never heard of or seen one of these. This is all I could find...

Yeah, I was about to mention the link you posted.

I have an FI Model D, which is related to the Star family of handguns.
    See here.

I'm guessing her client is an older fellow, as not many younger people have ever heard of them, let alone own one.

I have several different models of Star's. They are very well made guns. During the 80's they had a little problem with QA before they went out of business but most of there firearms are very good. The link above will give you all the info you are looking for about the history of Star.

Good guess. He's an older guy and a bit of a collector from what I understand.

It certainly is a knock off, I have a S&W 5906. I was hired by our local Sheriff's Dept. in 1990 when Deputie's were still carrying S&W Revolver's but if you wanted to carry your oun weapon it had to be a S&W 5906 9mm. Which I purchased prior to being hired for just that reason, I wanted more than 6 shot's. I'm sure some older people remember this was a Pre-ban Pistol with 15 in the mag. & 1 chambered. I still have it & it still looks brand new S&W has allway's had a great finish on their pistol's & mine has only about 2% holster wear which is exceptional. I almost think firearm manufacture's deliberately use a cheaper finish on the newer firearm's today cause they really get holster wear very quick???

Star had been around for years and fielded some quality, economical and ergonomical guns. Never shot one, but I would not mind owning one. They had a pretty good reputation was my impression.

Star "Firestar" came in 3 calibers; the 9mm single stack (I have one), the .40 S&W and the .45 ACP (I have one). All were available in blue or "Starvel" finish (stainless). There were also a couple of variations of the 9mm and .40called "plus" models, which were double stack. The standard Firestar models are all compact guns, of all steel construction, and thus heavier than polymer framed guns of the same size. They make fine carry guns and, because of their weight somewhat easier to control. The 9mm and .40 are the same size, and the .45 only slightly larger. I love mine.
