Anyone Have Experience with the CZ-97B?
Hello all! New guy here... This is my first thread on the discussion forum.
Does anyone on the forum own a CZ-97B or has anyone shot one? From what I've read, it seems like a pretty decent gun, like it's smaller counterpart the CZ-75.
I saw some pics of a blued one with the Hogue grips and a SS guide rod and, form the pics, it appears to be a great looking well designed gun. I'm also really into the fact that it's double action and has no grip safety. I sometimes run into issues with that particular item on my 1911's :-)
Thanks for your input.

Re: Anyone Have Experience with the CZ-97B?
Yeah, I've got a buddy of mine that is actually CZ's biggest Fan-Boy at the moment. The way he drools over them you'd think he'd actually give his one remaining nut for one. I don't see why, it's not the gun that makes the shooter, it's the training, practice, competitions, repetitions, and practice (yes it's worth mentioning twice) that make the shooter. not gear.
should have told my buddy that before he spent a little over $1900 to tacticool a bolt action 22...

"Shooter not gear"... Then why do you "need" an Ed Brown? LOL! :-)
Just really looking for opinions on this gun.....Last edited by stumpy1972; June 22nd, 2010 at 12:14 PM.

I do hear good things about CZ. from what I understand, they are way bigger for IPSC and USPSA in europe.

Make sure you handle a CZ97 before buying. The reach to the trigger is phenomenal. I have medium sized hands and my trigger finger can barely get its tip on the trigger with the grip centered in the web of my hand.
I don't thing Pennsyplinker would have any trouble, though. The CZ97 would probably look 1/2 size in his mitts.

Re: Anyone Have Experience with the CZ-97B?
I have a CZ97 EAA Witness it's a 10 shot 45acp. Feels good in my hands and its a DA/SA pistol with a fair trigger. It has nice high 3 dot sights. My problem is that the only magazine I have for it is a 3rd party Pro mag. It will only load 6 rounds and fire them reliability anymore and it starts to jam. The magazine is bad other then that its a solid piece of steel with potential I just need to buy a decent magazine for it. Though a compact pistol it is heavy for it's size.
Not a bad gun I bought it used from a pawn shop for $189 no magazine.

Never shot one, but I've handled one. You have to get your hands on it before you buy one cause they are massive. I love CZs and I doubt Id by one simply because it would be tough to shoot for me.

Re: Anyone Have Experience with the CZ-97B?
Thanks for the input guys. My problem is I can't seem to find one at a local brick and mortar dealer so as to get my grubby mits on that big grip. I did just pick up at CZ 75 P-01 at my local Cablela's for a really decent price and, besides being a little short, the grip fits fine. No issues reaching the trigger even in the full DA position either. I'm a pretty big dude (350lbs 6'3") so my hands are fairly big (about 8" x 4.75"). I guess I could just buy one online, and if it doesn't fit I could sell it here. Hopefully I would not have to take too big a hit on it...

Re: Anyone Have Experience with the CZ-97B?
I'm not quite as big as you but my CZ97 EAA fits nicely in my hands everything is setup where I can reach it. What I really like about it is the trigger, sights and smooth operation of the safety, slide release and mag release. It is designed for function and feel if it will load it will fire. My problem is I need a good magazine, I have a 3rd party.
I'm only 6''3" 225lbs and it fits me well.
