Default take the hammer off an S&W airweight?

    Hey everyone,

I just bought (actually stole because of the price) a S&W 37-2 airweight. It's amazingly comfortable to carry already, and I think it might start to see heavy rotation, rather than be delegated to the car gun duty.

anyway, I love it for pocket carry, but the hammer has been getting snagged on the way out. I was wondering if i could easily make it to a bobbed hammer or not so much. I'd love to keep it DA/SA without going DAO if that's not a problem.

let me know what I can do!

    Thanks,
    Steve

If you got such a good deal, why not sell/trade it and get one with a properly bobbed hammer, or even a shrouded hammer. If you are going to be carrying it in your pocket, you might be better off with a shrouded hammer to keep that pocket lint at bay.
You can never have enough horsepower or ammunition.

What he said. I've carried all types of J frames and the shrouded hammer is, by far, the best.

someone in the classifieds is looking to trade a LNIB ruger LCR, the new polymer 5 shot, hammer encased, 38spl +p revolver for a S&W revolver.

Reducing the weight of the hammer reduces the energy striking the primer. You could have missfires on hard primers with out increasing spring tension and thus increasing triger pull weight.

ok, but why did we all decide I need an LCR? I like the smith and wesson, just don't like the hammer. I don't really think I want DAO like the LCR, but was looking to see if there was an option to reduce drag on the draw. If you're all saying just get a new one, why not get a smith with bobbed hammer?

No need to get offended, I was just offering an alternative. Get whatever you like.

hey, Im not offended... just thinking if replacing/grinding a part would be cheaper and easier, I'd rather do that.
