    Default Charles Daly Tactical Autoloader?

I've wanted this shotgun for a little over a year now and every time I have the money to buy it, I come up with a reason not to get it. It's got the look of the Benelli autos that I adore for half the price but I've heard basically nothing about these shotguns . . . Does anyone own one or know anyone who does? I'm leaning toward this over the Remington 1187 because I like the pistol grip stock, sights and 18 1/2" barrel better than what I'd get with the 1187. I don't like Mossberg shotguns before anyone mentions them, I think they're ugly. Should I just wait another couple of months and try to get my hands on a Benelli M3?

This is a picture of the CD Tactical Auto . . .

    Here's a video I found on youtube of it . . .

I can't comment on the chosen shotgun. but I will say that Charles Daly just closed up shop a few months ago.

Daly wa an importer. They went out of business completely in late January this year. Your Daly shotgun will NOT have any warantee or parts available...there is NO ONE LEFT at Daly to do that - all parts were sold to Numrich last January and that was the end.

The CD's 1911 pistols that were made by ARMSCOR ARE still under warantee from ARMSCOR - I just got a free replacement recoil spring from them for my 7 year old CD Compact ECS a few months ago.

If you get one hell of a deal on that shotgun and you really like it, buy it, but udnerstand you are probably on your own with it unless the manufacturer will still back it, whoever thay may be...

as said CD went under the first of the year with a BS excuse, in reality due to bad management....

I think these shotguns were made for them by Hastan a turkish company that now markets under the Escort label and is imported by Legacy

Their forum is still alive at http://www.charlesdalyforum.com/

I really like the LOOK of the gun but I may hold it and change my mind. The problem is that it would be a special order so I'm paying for it up front before I ever hold it and that worries me. I've held some other pistol grip shotguns in this price range and I ALWAYS hate them. I've read on said forum that I can use a Benelli Nova magazine extension for it because they have the same thread pattern but . . . I think I may just end up buying a Remington 1187 because those guns are a sure thing and Remington isn't going under in my lifetime. I really want a Benelli M3 but I can't afford the $1500 or so I'd have to spend to get one.

I had a CD Superior II Trap gun. It looked pretty and I got a GREAT deal on it brand new (~$50). For a while, it was a good step up from my Mossberg 500 for trap and skeet competitions.

Here are my opinions on my gun:

    Pros:
    1. Cheap
    2. It was a good looking gun
    3. Reliable enough. Mostly for trap, and it always went bang. Only 3 malfunctions in skeet/sporting clays.
    4. It was semi

    Cons:
    1. AWFUL trigger. Stiff and gritty.
    2. Malfunctions. When they happened, it would take 15 minutes to clear.
    3. To load the magazine, you had to old down the bolt release button.
    4. The bolt lock shattered (thing that locks the bolt into the receiver). The bolt would SLAM the back of the receiver. CD fixed it. I've seen 3 CD's do this.

I would say it was a decent gun for the price. Guess I might have pushed it past it's designed use (put about 3000 shells through it).

After it broke about 2 years ago, I bought a Beretta 391 competitions. Since then, I've put about 20k through it. I LOVE that gun. Still running like a champ.

Don't forget about the Rem 1100 tactical.

The only problem I have with the Remington autoloaders is the checkering on the black synthetic stock. I don't have a problem with it if it's on a wooden stock but I've held a few 1187s and actually an 1100 tactical and I think it's ugly. I like the vertical line pattern on Benelli shotguns and some 870 forends. I've been talking about the shotgun for a long time so I'm just going to get the CD Tactical and hope it doesn't let me down.

You could easily throw on an aftermarket stock adapter or BlackHawk Knoxx Stock and have the ability to adjust LOP, stock choices grip choices etc.

The reliability and number of aftermarket parts for the Rem autloaders make it desireable for me. As well as plentiful of replacement parts.

The 870 has all the aftermarket stuff. The only replacement parts I've found for the 1187 are by Speedfeed (already tried one for the 870 and didn't like it) and Surefire and they both have the checkering on the forend. If you know of somewhere I can get a forend for the 1187 that has a vertical line grip pattern let me know but I haven't seen anything like that anywhere on in the internet. I actually had a Blackhawk Spec Ops stock for my 870 for a while and grew out of it.

What I really want is a fixed pistol grip stock. Mesa Tactical needs to hurry up with their Urbino PG stock. I've been waiting to buy one since the beginning of the year when they were supposed to be available in April but I was just told by a Mesa rep that it will be until at least August. I probably won't care much for the 12" LOP but I'll get used to it.
