    Default Need a .357

3 options, the lawman is 500, the SW is 450 and I can find a sp101 anywhere.

The Ruger is bull strong. You pay for the Colt name. S&W is not a bad choice but I like the Ruger for it's strength.

it doesn't have to be a sp101, just a ruger .357 because they are cheaper than sw's and durable.....any comments on the 60-15

I absolutely love my GP100. I really wish they made them in 2-2.5 inch barrel.

    Ruger. And a 3" GP100 would be a nice compromise between the SP101 and a 4" GP.

The Ruger SP101 is on my short list.

Is there a reason you are going for j-frame type guns? I find the trigger and general ergonomics on a k-frame much more comfortable.

J frame 357s are not fun to shoot a lot. A SP101 weighs a bit more if your stuck on a smaller frame. Otherwise I'd look at a GP100 of L frame S&W.

It's not in your poll, but as long as your willing to look at Ruger you might want to think about going to gunbroker and searching for the Security Six.

It was my first handgun, bought new in '78, and awesome revolver and deadly accurate. Mine was stainless with 6" barrel. Also had adjustable rear sight although I never saw the need to adjust mine.

Because they are no longer in production you can find them at a wide range of prices. Finding one in a local gun shop might be out of the question, unfortunately. I'm always looking and I've yet to see one. There are plenty on gunbroker, I just looked this past weekend.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

I have the 3' 60 and it is n excellent carry piece, especially on walks in the country. The Ruger is somewhat larger and heavier, also stronger, however, I think you'll find testing the strength of either a daunting proposition.

In my opinion, the Colt is a weak third. Overpriced, not easily repaired, and most likely to need repairs. Also, it is huge compared to the other two, so I don't see a comparison, now a Detective Special?

As much as I love Smith and Wesson the Ruger is a fine alternative. The Colt not so much, but at least it isn't a Taurus.
