Re: shotgun tazer
From my studies, most cases where the Tazer was used - the officers would have been justified in using their sidearms too. If they didn't use the zapper as often as they do, more people would have bullet holes in them instead, which is more deadly.
Tazers save lives.. yeah, there might be 270 deaths with 1000-2000+/- (guesstimate) survivors. If the Tazer wasn't used, it could have been 2270 deaths caused by 9mm, 40cal and 45cal slugs.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: shotgun tazer
So if you have a heart condition its ok for the cops to kill you cause you didn't move quick enough?
Haven't heard of pepper spray killing anyone.
Here's just one
Taser International Inc. maintains that its stun-guns are "changing the world and saving lives everyday." There is no question that they changed Jack Wilson's life. On Aug. 4, in Lafayette, Colo., policemen on a stakeout approached Jack's son Ryan as he entered a field of a dozen young marijuana plants. When Ryan took off running, officer John Harris pursued the 22-year-old for a half-mile and then shot him once with an X-26 Taser. Ryan fell to the ground and began to convulse. The officer attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but Ryan died.
According to his family and friends, Ryan was in very good physical shape. The county coroner found no evidence of alcohol or drugs in his system and ruled that Ryan's death could be attributed to the Taser shock, physical exertion from the chase and the fact that one of his heart arteries was unusually small.Last edited by KeithPA; October 11th, 2007 at 08:45 PM.

Re: shotgun tazer
I believe tazers are a great idea for LE, the only problem being that since they are less than lethal they are more likely to be used. Unfortunate instances like the kid in the weed field will happen. maybe there should be some guidlines as to when one is appropriate to use just like there are laws that govern when it is appropriate to shoot? that would seem practical.
If such rules already exist I am unaware of them, especially as others noted that people seem to get tazed for just about anything.
On another note: THAT TAZER SHOTGUN SLUG IS TOO COOL!!!!!!!
Ok, I got that out of my system.
