How heavy is your carbine rifle?
I'm curious how heavy your rifle's are, preferably AR's/AK's.
My AR fully loaded/equiped is 9.2 pds approx. Thats with a full weight 11.5 gas piston SBR, full mag, surefire g2l, Daniel defense vertical grip with 2 CR123's, Hogue Grip with 3 CR123's, Magpul sling & sling mount, Daniel Defense Omega 7in rail, and Eotech XPS3.
What are you opinions on the weight of my rifle? I personally feel that it is on the heavy side; however, I also feel that it is everything I need without any extra bullsh*t.Last edited by rockkrawler628; June 12th, 2010 at 05:01 PM.

Re: How heavy is your rifle?
Anyway, back to your rifle... I think that 9.2 lbs is way too much. The most I would accept for my "SHTF gun" is 8 lbs, and even that is on the heavy side. 7 lbs would be just about perfect.
Just IMHO, YMMV.

Re: How heavy is your CARBINE? ;)
Im under 10, loaded. My bathroom scale says 9.5, seems accurate enough for an estimate.
Colt 6920
DD 12.0 FS Omega Rail
Gear Sector handstop
G2 in a Viking Tactics light mount
CTR stock
XTM rail covers
Aimpoint H-1
Troy rear folding sight
Its not just the weight though, its where that weight is. You def feel it up front when your standing at low ready on end listening to an instructor or waiting for drill/instructions to start.
Id like to get a "pencil" barrel in there but thats about all I could cut, and its not too heavy so its not a priority right now.

Re: How heavy is your rifle?
Geez, way back when (see the ribbon with seven campaign stars?), my M-14 (with automatic selector switch) was your basic eleven pounds, and two 20-round magazines duct-taped together, at two pounds each, added another four pounds. Armed for bear, I had fifteen pounds to carry, not counting the four ammo pouches on my ALICE gear with two magazines each.
Yes, feel free to complain about a mere 9.2 pounds or whatever.

Re: How heavy is your rifle?
Im not complaining, just comparing. If you could lose some of the weight, without losing function, wouldnt you ?
As an example compare the size and weight of the newer micro Aimponts to the older larger models.
ETA: what you carried was a real rifle. Where talking carbines here. Thread title is misleading, but upon reading the OP I understood.
