Talon has been gone since February. All of the surplus bullets out there now are sold-off Talon stock. Nammo of Norway is now the official de-mil contractor, with strict orders to sell absolutely NOTHING to the public. Once the existing stockpile of powders, cases, and bullets are gone, there simply will be no more.

In addition, more strict control over imports has been set in place, so all of that plentiful South African ammo just doesn't seem to be getting through, or anyone elses' either. Don't you find it interesting that 8mm Mauser ammo suddenly vanished just as piles of MG42 gun kits arrived? Coincidence?

For those a bit behind here's an update: "Arms" are specifically mentioned in the Constitution. Endless court challenges and Constitutional battles face extremist Liberals now coming into power who wish to ban ownership of all military guns. Which they do, BTW, desperately want to do. But they finally found a rationalization...ammunition is not mentioned in the Constitution at all. I really can't believe they never thought of this before. Just ban the AMMO. It's unbeatable.

And the ammunition makers in America are right onboard, because most of the military ammo the Government now wants banned is coming in through surplus imports, hurting sales of domestic manufacturers, and every police agency in America thinks this is swell too...no high velocity AP out there. If you want ammo for anything under the incoming model, it will be down-loaded civilian "sporting" ammo with soft or hollow points, and .50 cal is just simply out of the question. The US ammo industry is overjoyed to cooperate with this.

There is not going to be any sudden miracle and release of some huge surplus of ammo for our big military guns, or components either. There WILL be MORE regulation and outright bans, even if they don't bother to TELL you it's a ban (where's all that SA .308? Surplus 8mm?)...

Stock up now, or have nothing later. Period.

I don't know about there being a ban on the import of .50 brass, but I do know it can be found. Just last week on govliquidation.com I saw several hundred pounds of .50 brass (once-fired military) being auctioned off.
If you keep an eye on that site for brass it can be found. Problem is you have to truck the stuff out. The brass is sometimes listed as "scrap metals". It's not cheap, but if you win an auction for .50 brass on the site you'll have more than enough for a shoot.

Unless I misunderstood something in your post, it doesn't make sense.

If the incoming socialist regime plans on eliminating all ammunition imports, civilian ammunition sales will fill the vacuum. You're obviously alluding to Hillary or Obama, since the President has exclusive control over importation. It may keep prices where they are now, but supply should level off after things die down (no pun intended) overseas.

The civil ammunition makers certainly won't support a total civilian ammunition ban. And what about reloading? Black powder?

The key here, I think, is not necessarily a ban or elimination of imports. Perhaps what looms is a FEDERAL TAX. A tax placed on all shooting related sales imported as well as domestic. This would hurt everyone.

i was quoting something from the m2hb.net website about the lack of .50 projos what is out there for sale now is it, when its gone there will be no more. as for the 8mm/.38's i have know idea about that stuff. i wouldnt doubt these politicians are going to ban importation of ammo. they cant take our guns .........

What is to keep the 10% on pistols and revolvers from becoming 25-30% and the 11% on ammunition from going to 50%.
My point was a liberal leadership would have at it's disposal a weapon to discourage the potential gun owner, as well as some current owners, from continuing an interest in firearms. Could this be seen as a "backdoor" approach to gun control? Make the ammunition so expensive who will want to pay for it.

like i told my helper today, he ought to buy a pallet of lead shot and a pallet of powder and a ton of primers and stash em for a rainy day. he shoots sporting clays, he paid over 8.00 a box at m&m the other day (i know they have to make some money) but this is whats its coming too. stock up everything
