Should I practice shooting from the hip and shooting weak handed?
How many people practice shooting from the hip? Do you shoot one handed with both hands including your non dominate? Any tricks to doing either easier? How practical is shooting from the hip? Thinking about training the first shot from the him and three more until I can see my front site.

Have you considered taking a course?
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Every time I go to the range I shoot one handed without using the sights, then weak handed, then w/e I feel like. I also try reloading one handed and racking the slide one handed.
But I'm weird.Great job!

I think anybody that carries should at least try shooting in every possible manner. JIC is not just an expression.

Practice.
Shooting from the hip.
Shooting while moving L to R and R to L past target.
Shooting while advancing on and retreating from target.
Shooting at a moving target (both while you are stationary and while YOU are moving too).
Shooting from behind cover.
Shooting while prone.
Shooting with and without support hand.
Shooting with strong and weak hand.

Should you practice that?
Only if you want to survive a gunfight!

Re: Should I practice shooting from the hip and shooting weak handed?
There are lots of things that one "should" practice. Unfortunately most don't have all the time and or resources to actually practice them.
By taking good training, you will be exposed to those things that you should focus your practice on. Some things should be practiced a lot more than others.
So I will second, third, fourth, or more what was posted already, seek out good training.Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

Re: Should I practice shooting from the hip and shooting weak handed?
I'll go along with all the previous posters on the necessity of professional training.
Shooting from retention and weak handed are good things to practice CORRECTLY.
I took a miniclass on one handed pistol manipulations. Why? What could I possibly ever need that type of training for?
A month ago I was involved in a construction accident involving my dominant hand. I can barely move my 3 good fingers and have no movement in my ring and pinky finger. The wires sticking out of my knuckles have what was left of the bone fragments wrapped around them.
I'm as one handed as a person can be and still have the hand.
I dug out my left handed Glock holster and now use my IWB Kahr as an OWB lefty holster.
Presentations are slower and sloppy but I can still get either pistol out.
I need to get out and reenforce previous one handed pistol manipulation technique but at least I have it.
FloridaState, I hope you are writing down all the information you have asked for on this board. If you would take multiple training classes, much of what you are asking would be addressed by professional instructors and not internet opinion. A Lawyer would shed light on legal issues as well.
Good luck with your quest for gun related information.

Practice unloaded a lot before you try it for real. You can watch videos on youtube of professionals (not idiots) they are free and read books if you don't have money for training. You don't always have to take a class for everything. Not everyone has a couple hundred bucks to drop on a class for every little thing.
